Lately I have had people refusing to buy Chinese made bowling balls.  I can not argue with them and really I am in agreement with them.  The new Columbia White Dots are now made in China.  I looked around the shop as to where things are made.  A good majority are made in China, bags and shoes.  With all the press lately about the Chinese and lead in toys, poisoning our medicine, pet food and drugs I really do not want to buy anything made in China.  I think someone also forgot to mention to companies that China is communist!  It may be about making things cheaper but people are now looking at American safety and jobs!

Best not buy or play any major brand golf clubs then.  Majority of the heads are made in foundries in China.

True but in the situation concerning bowling balls there is plenty of great equipment still made in the U.S.A.


Ping still makes the majority of their irons heads in the USA. Does one play Ping or another brand?  Who BTW have a MAP on their retailers and WILL revoke a dealer if found to be selling less than MAP price.  Or do you play another cheaper brand made in China just because they are cheaper?

BTW....I think most ALL plastic balls are made in China/Korea except Big B's in Mexico both foreign manufactured.  So does that mean you are not going to use a plastic ball?

if you dislike buying balls made in china then i would hope you don't buy balls made in mexico cause Brunswick cost more American people jobs moving down cross the boarder then all the plastic balls being made over in china are

From what I have read and heard the Brunswick situation may have been a little different.  The Brunswick move may have been based on the cost of making bowling balls and the labor unions.  Brunswick could not compete with other ball manufacturers if they did not do something.  I would have rather seen them stay in the US but there is the problems.  Without jobs Americans can not buy bowling balls.  Without reasonable priced labor corporations can not survive.  Then you have another conversation on corporate greed.

If people are going to demand American goods and refuse Chinese products then they will have to pay the cost and it sounds like some are willing to.

I don't disagree with you The Truth just stating what I think are the facts.   Actually, I agree with you and why I generally use Visionary and LM/L both mfg by small companies that are real Mom and Pop American based businesses.  

BTW....I did post the question about where Maxim and WD lines are mfg. in the Ebo forum.

its very sad how politics has poluted american minds to direct hate against products made against a country.
its like japan refusing to buy beef from the US because they said that cows in america are poisonous.

it is a tactic in international trade a government uses to "boycott" products from a country for multiple reasons like how china refuses to allow their dollar to inflate.
well the logic is in every business / international trade text book
that shows how many people in this forum read

this post is kinda stupid

first, does the chinese companies choose to be communist? in the states u can choose, thats not an option in china

second, im chinese, and i think the companies who have their plastic balls made in china is a good move, costs are way lower and lower price for everyone. if u cant take that, throw ur 200 dollar BW to the 10 pin. or pay 50 for the chinese made plastic ball.

last, u think its hard to make a living out of pro shop? go to china and see how much the labour are getting paid to make ur stupid 50 dollar plastic balls, they have a hard time bringing food to the table so they have to that crappy job so americans can play throwing a ball into pins.

the day that all the plastic balls are made in china, i wanna see whos goin to complain, and if ppl goin to buy a $50 for a made in china or a $70 made in us

although they are communists their economy is expanding at a more rapid rate than the US.
how many of you have actually BEEN to china? they have malls and huge buildings just like new york or any big city in the US. they have almost completed the tallest building in the world. they have public transportation just as good as Manhattan. its not time to get stuck in the past. where has the US been all these years since bush took office? look at the numbers, the national debt.
its not good to badmouth a nation,because the government blinds you to. do some research FFS

but on another hand i do not agree that a bowling ball company which originated from the US should produce in china or anywhere else in the world. it loses its prestige. think about GM making cars in china or mexico. it just isn't right.

oh forgot to mention about cheap labor.
in the city, a tour guide makes 3 grand USD a month.
hows that cheap? iono, u guys are the ones calling cheap on chinese labor
