Balls thrown at the GEICO yesterday in L.I.
« on: March 21, 2008, 12:41:15 AM »
I went out to L.I. with a couple of other BR guys to watch the morning block of 64.  It's always a great time.  The Brunswick Avalanche solid mostly and pearl were all over the place.  Most of these were observed in games 3-7:

Mika - absolute inferno
Angelo - avalanche solid he started with it, used it all morning
Pete Weber - Thunderstruck (red one)
Mitch Beasley - The Rising (whole block)
Scroggins - switched to a blue vibe last 2 games
Oatman - blue vibe alot
Steve Weber - avalanche
LeClair - cell polished
Kretzer - neptune for last 2
R. Allen - cherry vibe
Barnes - wrath dead flush (dark blue one)
Rhino - that green storm, rapid fire?
Jaros - pluto his 2
Fagan - bite or widow
van hees - avalanche
paul - avalanche
jurek - agent and fired up
WRW - n'sane levrg all morning
mark scroggins - cell
mccune - bite or widow
bohr - avalanche
duke - fired up (red one?)
jones - had to be the raid
kalfas - looked like an angular one
parker - he loves that twisted fury
rogers - fury pearl
russell - avalanche

A half ten is not a great shot.  No, you shouldn't have carried it.

jbruno6...

Nice report. It is great to see what they are rolling on different conditions to get to the brackets and finals. We usually have to rely on "in the bag" for the finals and that does not really give you the whole picture. Sometimes they use two or three balls all week then drill up something new just for the show.

The free agents are fun to watch.  Mike Scroggins made the show with the cell.  A few weeks later, I think he was throwing the Storm Agent.  Yesterday, i see him go in the back where all the equipment is stored, he walks out with the Blue Vibe while wearing a Columbia 300 polo shirt....crazy  Steve Jaros finishes runner up at the Masters with the Special Agent and Troad, pretty much sticking with Storm, and then he switches to a ball I couldnt recognize.  I got close, and it was the Roto Pluto. (BTW, Jaros is a very underrated shotmaker).  Fun to see Kretzer with all the planet balls in his bag, venus, neptune, etc.  Some other notes from LI......Jason Belmonte was hangin with Barnes all day, moving sets with him.....Also, the TQR leader Jason Mahr, I think hs name is,  throws the ball harder than anyone I've seen.  There was no speed meter, but he had to be at 22-23 on his strike ball, and upper 20's for spares, my back went out just watching him.  He made it into match play today, he has some game, tremendous carry in the 1-3.

What pattern were they on? Nice report! Surprised at the number of Vibes, considering it is not a top tier priced ball.
