Barbed Wire or Monster Slay/R?
« on: January 11, 2004, 05:32:06 AM »
I am looking for a dry lane ball to go longer than my Hot Wire, but give me more reaction than my Sonic X.  The Sonic X is a fantastic dry lane ball, but it actually gets very little use it hooks so little.  I will probably save that one only for houses that are known to be horribly dry.  The Hot Wire is a great ball for me when the midlanes start to break down a bit, but can hook a little early or too hard off the back when they dry out.  I need something that will give me more length than the Hot Wire, but have a powerful backend, as the Sonic X is just too smooth getting around the corner.  From what I have read, the Barbed Wire may be similar to the Sonic X, while it seems the Slay/R might give me more backend which I need.  My main concern is if the Slay/R will go longer than my Hot Wire, if not I'll have to go with the Barbed Wire.  Thanks for the help everyone.

I've found that the Hot Rod is simply not a dry lane ball. It hooks up entirely too early on the dry & is very over/under on spotty conditions.

The Barbed wire gets excellent length and has a weak backend. If you're looking for long and mild it's a great ball. If you want long and strong go with the Slay/r.

But if he wants a Storm ball that hooks lees and goes longer than the Hot WIre and hooks more than the Sonic-X (I assume the pearl), then the Hot Rod is the logical fit.

The Slay-R would also seem to fit here. The Hot ROd has more backend than the SlayR, though, with "normal" drillings.

I have a Hot Wire and a SlayR.  The SlayR is a nice step down from the Hot Wire, at least in my hand.
