Tilt question
« on: November 24, 2008, 02:38:16 AM »
What is the easiest way to messure tilt?  I am a high tracker with a PAP of 5 X 3/8 up.

Me: "These lanes are tight. I have 2 boards!"
My buddy with front 8: "Me too!"
Me: "Yeah, but yours both have arrows on them, and an arrow in between!"

You measure it similar as though you are getting your axis point.  You take the first oil ring closest to your grip and trace it with a grease pencil from a pro shop.  Then, you measure with a prosect from one side of the ring to the other to get the diameter.  Then, from there, there is a chart that tells you what the percentage of tilt is based on the diameter.

EX:  Someone who is a high tracker, is going to have a big diameter (near 10-12 inches across).  That person will be around 5-10 degrees of tilt.  Someone who is a low tracker (3 1/2 PAP), will have a small diameter (around 5 inches).  That person is going to have about 75 degrees of tilt.  Someone who is a medium track (4 1/4 to 4 1/2 PAP), is going to fall in the middle (about 7-8 inch diamater and about 45 degrees of tilt.

That is how you do it.  Have to go to your pro shop to find out just as you would an axis point.
