Give me ur 2 cents
« on: December 24, 2003, 09:29:38 PM »
I have like 200 bux from x-mas to spend, and I was thinking about getting a new ball. Anyone have good suggestions of a nice ball I can get for like 150-200 bux? No particles either. Preferable pearl, give me ur suggestions

Is is possible to go wrong with an Inferno?  I don't think so.  The SlayR is also pretty darn spiffy.

What are you looking for the ball to do?  How do you throw it?  What are the conditions?

KID .. I recently was like you .. looking for a NEW BALL! Read a lot of reviews/visited a lot of sites and finally selected one that I THOUGHT was the BEST! I was disappointed!

Tough to pick one out .. wish you luck .. don't be surprised if it doesn't turn out RIGHT! When you spend a LITTLE and it's not right .. it's one thing .. when you spend a LOT and it bombs out .. sort to want .. to kick yourself!

A thought process maybe .. Do I want one good ball for a SPECIFIC condition .. or .. do I add a few bucks and get two balls .. one for MED/HVY and the other for MED/DRY? Have to make that thought process before you JUMP!

Country club, i have a slayR on its way, but its used, so I am looking for a ball I can punch up with like, pretty strong backend, for medium/medium-wet lanes. I have a slow ball speed like 11-12 mph, can go faster if i need to. I have like medium ball revs. Let me know of a good pearl you think would fit me.

I would suggest a Thing Returns, but with your slow ball speed a Vendetta might be better.  Silver Streak Pearl or X Factor if you want a bigger snap.

Track Revmaster.  The Triple Threat is a great ball too.

Find a reputable knowledgeable fitter/driller in your area.  Have him/her watch you roll the ball.  He/she will know how best to match you up to the usual lane condition you bowl on if a house bowler and the right ball/layout for you.  All the people that say this ball or that ball know nothing about you or your game.  It's a crap shoot at best.

Good luck,
Scott

The best gift you can give yourself, or receive, is lessons from a quality coach. They will increase your average more than any one single ball, and last a lot longer too!
I sent my son (16) to a weekend training session this past fall with Brad Angelo, Tom Baker, Jack Jurek, Fran Bax, Dave Guindon and Steve Lenegan. He is in his 3rd year of bowling now, and his average went from last years 189 High School league average to where he is averaging 218 this year so far!!!!!!
No one ball, or even a new arsenal would have done that!
The cost of that camp was $99.00 for 2 full days of classroom and on lane instruction. He is now following up with Fran Bax and Brad Angelo (when available).
Best to you in your decision.

well here you go,  best purchase i probably have ever made was my Columbia Wild.  nice and cheap 3 piece ball.  but lemme tell you that thing hits like high performance and will hook on most lane conditions.  and just save the rest of your money and get a new bowling bag or shoes or something .
