Super Glue and Ball Plug
« on: March 24, 2016, 11:29:23 PM »
Was plugging a thumb tonight and had my stir stick sitting on the bench in the mixing cup.  I noticed a Nick in the coverstocks of the ball, so put a thin line of control gel super glue in it to fill it in.  To smooth the super glue out a bit and make sure the Nick was filled, I grabbed the stir stick (stillnhad a bit of wet plug on it) and rubbed over the top of the glue.

Holy chemistry!  Instantly there was a little grey smoke coming from the glue/ball!  Given that super glue is iso-cyanonate, and therefore the potential for cyanide,  I decided it best to leave the room!

Anyone see this before?  If not, I don't recommend trying!

The same thing happens when you spray the glue with accelerator.  Puff of smoke.  Not a big deal.
