Becoming a League Secretary
« on: July 28, 2009, 02:29:47 PM »
Sup people! Here's the deal. Our first crack a PBA Experience was somewhat of a success. It was ok. Part of the issues we had was because our secretary, didn't have his ducks in a row. Bowlers didn't know where they were going, point were either added or not given appropriately, etc. etc. etc. Now, from what I was told, I understand that being a league secretary is a job in itself, but whis was a singles league! It's not like we had 20 teams of three or five. Mind you, I am completely clueless to how this stuff works and it was my first time being a president of a league as well. Now I admit, this league had first on many fronts: President, Treasurer, Secretary and first time for the house itself. Now, even though the league didn't go well for the summer, the AMF Reg. rep for our area, wants this to be a winter league. So now, outside of trying to get the shots compliant, we need to make sure we have our paperwork in order  as well, or else it won't work. So, I'm wondering, if I wanted to take a shot at this secretary thing, what knowledge to I need to get, and what systems are there to make a singles league flow effeciently? Thanks for all replies and help in advance.

When you''ve moved up, moved back, adjusted left and right, cupped, flattened out, have thrown everyting in your arsenal, and the pins still don''t cooperate, just say, "Aw to HELL with it!", and throw the ball!

Best thing to do is to talk with someone at the house that is a good secretary for another league.  You will want to get the BLS program to help you out.  That will take care of the lane assignments, points, everything.

Be open to suggestions, and try to make it as easy on the bowlers as you can without over complicating your life as the secretary.
