I sent a email to chris at buddies. He recommended knockout so I might try it. Just would like a spray that is not to toxic.

lighter fluid and a brillo pad!

You might find a LOT of threads about this subject in both the MISCELLANEOUS and the COVERSTOCK PREPARATION forums, if you set your preferences back to maximum and do a search.

Are you cleaning bowling balls or polishing combat boots sans the brillo pads?

I use a mix of Simple Green/Jungle Jack(dollar store knock off brand), Isopropyl Alcohol, and then a little water. It works very very well.

Ditto on the Black Magic Ultimate Rejuvenator. I've been using it liberally on all of my balls at the lanes after I finish bowling for over 2 1/2 years with excellent results. I've had no loss of performance in any of my balls since I started using this ball cleaner.

The best regular-use cleaner is the Legends cleaner.  Got a bit of an odor to it but it turned my yellow microfiber towel black in about a month cleaning my new (not oil-soaked) Lanemasters balls.

A good poor-man's solution is a mixture of half Simple Green, half rubbing alcohol, half water.

I have been using one of the citrus degreasers (Zep or Windex) for a couple of years with no regrets.

Shelly, I agree with you that Legends/Lanemaster Cleaner is good. As far as turning a yellow microfiber towel black in a month of cleaning balls, I can do that also using Black Magic Ultimate Rejuvenator cleaning any of my balls including the Lanemaster balls as you mentioned. You mentioned the Legends Cleaner has a bit of an odor. Let me tell you it has an extremely strong-powerful-potent odor of which other cleaners don't have and is a health hazzard to some people. Here is a post I made about it under another topic in this forum....

quote:
The Legends/Lanemaster Cleaner (possibly the better cleaner out there) is the one I fear worse than the Awesome Cleaner and Black Magic Rejuvenator because of the extremely strong potent odor it has. People with emphysema, asthma, or other breathing/lung problems have to be extremely careful when using this Legends/Lanemaster Cleaner as it can take their breath away if they accidently inhale it. I KNOW this because I am one of those people and that is why even though I like how it cleans, I seldom ever use it unless I have run out of my regular ball cleaner. Even my wife puts up a fuss when I use this cleaner even in the garage and she tells me to take it outside if I have to use it. I am surprised that Legends/Lanemaster doesn't caution people of the dangers of breathing their ball cleaner.

To sum it up, I agree with you that it is a good cleaner, but it is not for everyone.

See, most people only use two.  You're using two, that's all you've got.  Where can you go from there?  Nowhere.  What if you need a little bit of extra clean?  Three.  One more.
