What is the best ball cleaning product you use legal or illegal...
I would have to say Black Magic products work best for me...

Me too. I guess we just have the correct method to actually make it work. I will use Lane Masters cleaner from time to time.

Clean n Dull doesn't work on any of my equipment over the year... Black Magic product give me the constant reaction each time I use them but its hard find a ProShop that has that stuff...

I hit my ball every week with wet dry paper if I have time. If not, like pike says 50/50 simple green and water. When I do have time to hit them I use the final finish I intend to keep on that particular ball. This is the way that works for me.

I use PJ's Tacky Snap for cleaning the ball after use on a daily base. I also like Clean and Tacky but don't care much for Clean and Dull.

Motiv Power Gel and Clean n Dull are the two I mainly used. Black Magic Rejuvenator and Remedy RX are also good stuff.

i was never a big fan of keeping my balls clean *giggles*
until recently i got back to bowling, i have been very diligent and clean my ball after every throw with a cloth (non bowling company produced) with windex sprayed on it.
To boot, my windows and mirrors at home are cleaner then ever.

Why would you use Windex ?
Are you doing this process during league ????

Windex isnt made for cleaning bowling balls.
Unless I missed that on the back of the bottle for intended uses.
Why not get an approved cleaner from your Pro Shop ?

I'm a cheater because every so often I use acetone. I normally use diluted simple green, but occassionally it just won't get off stubborn belt marks and such. Acetone takes anything off.

@spinboy. Well i see your point. From your angle its kinda like im pouring cooking oil into the fuel tank of my car. How i came to take the calculated risk to use windex was when my cousin had a bottle of power house cleaner. I opened it checked it out. It looks like windex , smells like windex. And i tried it on my windows and mirrors. So. . . Like i said. . Calculated risk i am willing to take. If the ball cleaner smelled like poop, looks like poop water, i would take a dump and mix it with water and use that as my bowling ball cleaner.serious. Ha ha.

On the simple green thread, there's info on this, but basically the basic cleaner that Brunswick makes is Windex. They either license out the formula or outsource it, has been tested by a chemist and found the same ingredients. Cleaner is cleaner, the ball companies haven't invented some magic elixer unknown before and only to be used on bowling balls, bowling ball surfaces aren't extra terrestrial substances. Normal cleaners approved by the USBC which don't change the surface hardness etc are really the equivalent in basic cleaning oil and dirt. Any other effects besides basic cleaning would be illegal by the USBC anyways because it would be altering the surface, just cleaning degreasing the surface and maybe getting a little ways down into the coverstock too. Most are supposedly just water, Butoxyethanol, Isopropanol, Ammonia and some surfactants to help spread it out.

I do know for sure that Brunswick Remove All Ball Cleaner is re-branded Windex cleaner, or the same exact formula. I have a buddy who works for a lab, who tested the difference between the Brunswick cleaner and simple Windex. It's the same!

thanks for the info bit. i think i came across that in the simple green thread as well.
So i guess im not taking much of a calculated risk after all. I thought i was living on the edge or a renegade cowboy using windex on my bowling balls. -.- meh...
well the least these companies could do is the change the color and/or the scent of their windex basic cleaner right.
when my 1 liter of windex finishes, im going to try the new lavender scented one, it has a lovely purple hue to boot.
