BEST BALL COMPANY
« on: March 16, 2004, 01:56:36 AM »
I HEAR PEOPLE TALK ABOUT WHICH COMPANY THEY THINK IS THE BEST BOWLING BALL COMPANY. BUT IS THERE REALLY SUCH THING? I THINK THAT A GOOD BOWLER SHOULD BE ABLE TO USE ANY BOWLING BALL AND STILL SCORE WELL. THE COMPANY TELLS YOU HOW POWERFUL AND HARDHITTING THEIR BOWLING BALLS ARE. FOR EXAMPLE, LANE 1 (NO OFFENSE TO ANY LANE 1 FANS) TELLS US HOW GOOD THEIR EQUIPMENTS ARE BUT HOW COME I DON'T SEE ANY OF THEIR PRO ON TELEVISION? IF THERE REALLY IS THE BEST COMPANY, THEN SHOULDN'T WE BE SEEING THEY WIN AT LEAST 80% OF THE TOURNAMENTS????? JUST BECAUSE WALTER RAY WILLIAM JUNIOR, PETE WEBER, BRIAN VOSS, ETC. ARE GOOD BOWLERS AND WIN A LOT OF TIMES DOESN'T SPECIFICLY MEAN THAT THE COMPANY THAT'S SPONSORING THEM ARE THE BEST. IN MY OPINION, IT'S A PROPAGANDA TO SAY THAT A SPECIFIC COMPANY'S EQUIPMENT IS THE BEST. BECAUSE TRUTH IS THERE'S NO SUCH THING. WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK? SOME COMMENTS?

Number 1:

Lay off the caps, man, jeez!!!

Number 2:

For the most part, you're right.  But when people say "best", they really mean, "Favorite".

My 2 cents.

Well, then let's not use lane 1. Let's use some other ball company. Is there any ball company in the industry that wins a good percent of the tournament?? The answer is no. So there is no such thing as the BEST ball company. I mean I use Brunswick, Columbia 300, Visionary, and Hammer. And I can rightly say that I got each and every one of them controlled and do what I want them to do. It's all about adjustments, if you're really a good bowler. It wouldn't matter what ball you use nor what ball company's equipment. I threw a 256 with a plastic ball. And in one league I only use a plastic ball. And my average is 180. In my opinion, you can score really high with any reactive or urethane ball.

As far as the equipment goes there is not alot of difference. It is a matter of which works best for you. I judge the companies based on all of the other aspects of business. Who gives back more, spends more for advertising or sponsorships, etc.. I think in this catagory STORM stands alone. All the big guys sponsor the top tour playters, but what about the regional players, top amatuers or just the local players that are beginning to show some talent. Storm also gives to the little guys. They also do more towards sponsorship for tournaments, both big and small. I am prejudice a little since they sponsor my tournament and have provided me with ball discounts or freebies some over the past year or so. How many companies would give ball deals to a tourney ran out of a 16 lane center and hosts around 100 teams a year? One. Heck it is even hard to get some of the others to sell you a shirt, much less give you something. It is also nice when that company makes great equipment to fit a range of conditions and budgets. Something that only a couple of others can do or will do. For me, Storm is number one. But it is the complete package that make that true.

121 people read this message, and only 3 people dare to answer? So does that mean I'm correct to the point. Where no one would have anything else so say?

I, for one, don't like to fool with the SURFACE of a ball. I use all the balls with the finish that's provided by the company. WHAT COMPANY DO I THINK PUTS OUT THE BEST BALLS? For the PRICE I would have to go with ROTO GRIP. The SILVER STREAK/PURE-TOP FUEL and the APOCALYPSE are terrific balls. If you had money to throw away (and some on this site do) the GOLDEN NUGGET is a good ball!

Why doesn't the LANE 1 balls show up on TV? They say that there are PRO'S using them .. guess they don't bowl too well with the balls because they AIN'T making it to TV! There might be a lot of reasons why the PRO'S don't SEEM to be using them .. guess we'll never know WHY!

No.  It's because you basically answered your own question, so those 118 felt no need to offer theirs.

As a previous poster stated, this post is 100% opinion, so here's mine:  They all must be pretty good as long as they are in business.  If one goes bankrupt, I guess that their balls weren't too good.  If there was one company that was the best, and everyone agreed on that, the would drive everyone else out of business.

So, we deduce there is no one best ball company.

15 years and still going strong! 15 years old that is! The names Warrior Princess, Xena..Warrior Princess
AM not A CHICK OF BOWLING but I wanted to be in Manda's clique And why would I "saw" pins in half, THATS A WASTE OF PINS! I'd rather blow it over with my storm, and 21mph ball speed on dry shots.

Since I am currently throwing Lane 1, I will say Lane 1. When Scott ran this site, Lane 1 was a sponsor. Scott now runs Virtualtournaments.com & Lane 1 is a sponsor. I heard good things about this company & I decided to patronize a sponsor. I have been impressed with my Cherry Bomb & am in no hurry to give it up.
