Placing your thumb completely burried into the thumb hole, and completely relaxing your hand with your fingers pointing over/toward the thumb hole, where is the first creases of your fingers?

For me, my creases are slightly into the holes.

Your fingers first knuckle crease should be at least Â½ the way across the holes. I noticed in last months BTM, Mo Pinel said the standard now for IPBSIA was to go Â¾ + the way across the holes.

Sawbones â€“ While some people use the relax grip as a semi-fingertip fit you really shouldnâ€™t put the fingers in past the first knuckle. The finger isnâ€™t designed to take stress at those points. Also you will not get the fingers in the same amount every time. With the relaxed finger tip grip you should insert the fingers only to the first knuckle and the hand/fingers should then fold naturally over the ball to allow the thumb to be inserted.

Although I wasn't a regular bowler and only bowled once in awhile with a house ball (where I learned to squeeze the ball...lol) in the late fifties clear up thru the seventies into the eighties. When I bought my first ball in the eighties I wanted a semi-conventional grip, but the Pro Shop operator talked me out of it because he said this type grip caused too many finger problems to people and said to use a regular grip since I was just starting out......So to sum it up, I've heard of the semi-conventional causing finger problems.
