Has anybody here had a cartilage tear scoped?
How long were you out before you could start bowling again?

I've had two done on my slide knee. I was asked to not bowl for 8 weeks. I went back after 5 weeks, the first time, retore it. The 2nd time I waited the 8 weeks. 2 years later I had a total knee replacement, was back bowling in 6 weeks with my surgeons ok. Go figure....... Been back bowling since march of this year with no problems or pain.

Well crap, that doesn't very encouraging.

I tore the cartilage in my slide knee in December. The recovery has been really slow. I was told by my Doctor that the tear was on the outside of the cartilage where it has good blood flow and it's likely to heal on it's own, however I'm still having problems.

Surgery is next if it doesn't improve by July 1. I hope a knee replacement isn't in my future.

Umungus,
Don't be discouraged by tekneek's post. I read his profile, if your'e over 50, you're a candidate for knee replacement. I had surgery in February on both of my knees for torn meniscus, and arthritis. The mensicus part is doing fine, I missed 7 weeks of bowling, I'm doing fine right now. I'm having joint fluid injections for the arthritis, the doc told me after I have that done I should be fine for a year.

Thanks for the input. I just did this Thur. morning (slide knee) and wasn't able to finish my league Fri. night. Had a bucket handle tear in the right knee years ago but I was 25 at the time and didn't bowl then. Bounced back pretty quick then but I'm 39 now. Haven't been to a doctor yet but I'm 99% sure I have a small tear going. I can really feel it pinching at the line. Thanks again for the input.
