Best Ball/ Manufacturer on the market?
« on: July 09, 2011, 07:33:04 AM »

I know that this will probably be more of a popularity contest but more curious about what you all think is the best ball and manufacturer out on the lanes today. I ask this because of what I see in the pro telecast. Team Storm bowlers using Roto-grip, Team Brunswick using Columbia...if these guys are on a certain team then why not use that teams product?

The Brunswick team was using Brunswick products exclusively. Period. End of story.

The only person throwing Columbia 300 was Chris Barnes for team Ebonite.  Fagan threw Track, Koivuniemi were throwing Track (though he throws all 4 brands from Ebonite), Jones threw Ebonite, and O'Neill of course threw Hammer.

Trust me, noone from Brunswick would ever throw Columbia 300 in the manufacturer's cup.

As for Storm Products, they also own Roto Grip, so the staffers there have access to both brands.

Koivuniemi threw a Hammer Taboo in the first match, then Ebonite Game Changer.  I'm not sure if he threw something else as well.  He throws all four as stated.  I saw Barnes throwing a Track 715T in qualifying before.  He has to throw Columbia 300 on TV though.

Barnes used the 715T in some of the match play at the U.S. open.  Not sure where else he used it.  WRW used that ball a lot.

If you ask this question to 10 people most likely get 10 different answers. To answer the op question. IMO right now I would say My favorite ball is the Mission 250k. I got it right after it was released. I have bowled 290,289, 280, and 279 x2 with it. It is my go to ball to start out with. As for the manufacturer as a whole would go with Track. I will say I only have track and ebonite so I can say about the other groups.(forgot I owed a Damage not a brunswick fan)  I will list my equipment so you know what I am comparing the best ball from. I ranked the balls I have below.

Mission 250k

300C

505T

Vital Sign

916AT

Ultimate Angular One

Damage

If you are talking out of the major brands..I say its a toss up with Brunswick and EBI. EBI is great cause they are working on a lot of different ball motions so that you can get anything that you want and not really spend  a lot of money. Like the new ebonite line..they brought out low end (Cyclone)(Game Changer)(Signals)  each ball is going to give you a different ball motion. Like the Cyclones will go longer and more of a up the boards but can be used as a hooking ball like Ron Mohr did at the US Senior Open and Leanne at the women's US Open. The game changer is for someone that like a little more ball in the mid lane and with a nice controable back end. The Signals which is my favorite cause its verstaile you can hit it with some abalon pads and keep it shiny or go dull and it will perform even better. Brunswick is getting better and better for awhile I wouldn't throw a Brunswick ball due to I thought they would be too much hook for me off my hand but they have done a wonderful job making equipment for everyone now.

I prefer the companies that make the balls round and harder than the pins.  What a ridiculous question.

I have had my best results with Brunswick.

If a manufacture isn't very good they probably are no longer in business.

IMO no such thing as a "best ball manufacture"

My favortie however is Seismic, kinda combinig the Midlane read of a Brunswick piece with easier length and a hard arcing reaction off the spot.
