Best bowling feats one month into fall season...
« on: September 19, 2004, 08:13:47 PM »
What have been some of the best bowling moments you've seen through league/tournament play as we are about one month into the 2004-2005 season? These can be things that have happened to you personally or things that you've observed during other people's games.

Both of mine would be things that I observed and haven't happened to me as of yet. One would be in my Tuesday league house I saw a gentleman leave and make the 5-7-10 split. I think that can be just as much of a challenge as a 7-10, because it was the first and only time I've seen it made. The second feat would be on my Monday night league the first week of bowling. While I was throwing my first game and bowling quite well, another bowler on the pair to my right started with a solid 10 pin, than proceeded to reel off 17 strikes in a row. Last 11 in game one, front 6 in game two. And I don't think one of the 17 had a pin left on the deck.

Last week I picked up the 6-7-10 during league, then left the 4-6-7 split on Thursday.  Figuring it worked once before, I threw the same target as the 6-7-10, and was able to kick the 6 across to the 7, and gave the 4 pin a wiggle.  Almost got it!

Also converted the 1-2-4-10 washout twice Thursday, and called the shot both times.  (Going brooklyn)

Best moment was watching one of our up and coming lefty's throw a 279 last week.  This guy has been working so hard on his game, averaging 150's - 160's last season, and worked hard all summer.  Up to 180's now and had the big set, so we will see.  I told him I'm keeping my eye on him

A lefty in my Thursday league left an unusual 4-6-8-10. He was bowling in the lanes next to me and I laughed when I saw the leave. He said 'a piece of cake' and I laughed harder. DAM if he didn't make it!

I've seen two 300 games bowled within the four leagues I'm in since mid August when winter season started.

Looks like it's going to be a GOOD WINTER for bowling!

WOW!, it's hard enough to leave the "lilly" but to pick it up would be something else.

So far, this season my best moment would have to be my second career clean night.  I did not have an open of any kind for the three games.  Unfortunately, I couldn't strike on the left lane, and I only shot a 589.

Moment I would most like to forget this season would be my 268 followed by a 115 in my Wed. night league.  At least I still shot 600 that night.

Season in a lot of local leagues just started last week...can't say I have seen much except my equipment sitting in the closet with me on the semi-retired list.

Nothing to really report here either.  I did, however, manage to shoot a 278, 246 and still not have a 700.  I had a real nice 166 the last game and ended up shooting 690.  Other than that highlight, I've shot a 283 high game and 751 high series.  Where's my 300/800 at?

I started subbing in a new house this year.  Synthetics with a pretty easy wall shot.  The second night I bowled there I started off 277 - 278.  Unfortunately, I lost my carry on the left lane and blew my chance at the 800.  Only finished with a 194 for a 749 set.

My biggest achievements this year are as follows:

I've shown up to every league session.

I haven't shot lower than 570.
(This is an achievement only because last year, the magic number was 550)

I ALWAYS start off really slow - really bad.

Well I seem to have driven into my team's head that showing up on time and bowling when it's your turn is a good thing.  Only took 3 weeks, still may be a work in progress.

I bowled my first 700 and 300 this year.  I aslo saw a friend of mine shoot his first 300.

Well, I've already seen 1 guy fall flat on his back and slide out onto the lane, saw a 299 - 80? two pairs down from me, heard of a 300 on the other side, seen one ball return bashed (with a large piece of it falling off), and so far -knock on wood - my team is still in the top 1/3 of the league standings!  We didn't see that much last year!

I've picked up the 6-7-10, and the 4-7-10 a few times before. Thats about it.

Ditto.  That's all I've done recently...

BK, what about you setting your new high game, and averaging 207 for that entire tournament?
