Best bowling streaks?
« on: October 26, 2012, 08:35:29 AM »
In memoriam of my streak of not shooting a sub 600 series in over 4 years coming to an end last night, what are your personal streaks that mean the most to you?

27 strikes in a row. First game back 11 for 290, Second game all 12 for 300, and Front 4 last game. Also happens to be my highest sanctioned 800 of 837.

25 in a row last night.  Last nine of the first game, 300 the second game, and then first four of the third game before leaving a 10 pin.  Finished up with 806.

This is my longest strike streak by far.

Mine isnt so great....streak of 8 299's before shooting 300.....not a streak but had a clean set with only 7 strikes and 25 9/'s....every single spare was different, nothing back to back.  Just a tough night...was very happy to stay clean.

jdball, I am with you. I would normally be irate, in reality probably a total douche about shooting a sub-600 round. However, because I know that I did everything I could in terms of adjustments and ball changes it didn't hurt as bad as it normally would. It still stung, but I was able to sleep at least.

I manage to choke each and every time I bowl a tournament that pays more than $50 for a top prize. That's been happening since I was about 12, so the streak has been running for 21 years now, and there's no end in sight!

Several years back, I had the last 23 in a row for 290, 300.  Only shot 760's though...
Throwing a RotoGrip Apocalypse...

Same year, my teammate shot 4 800's over a 10 day period....now that's on fire!

I have my best/worst streak ever. I had been on a hot streak lately and had recorded no series less than 768 over the course of a month. I am about as anal retentive as they come, and I never carry around more than 5 balls. Getting into my bag is a big deal, because I will not hesistate to toss the latest greatest release even if it doesn't do what I intend it to do. Long story short, I took a chance adding a new ball, a Columbia Cuda/C, into the bag because I happened to be very fond of the motion it produced for my best friend.

Well first night out with the ball outside of practice I go 300 the first game. My look started to change a little at the end of the first game but I took a chance and stayed with the ball the second game and put up another 300. Once again I needed to make another move and low and behold I start the third game with the front 7. When I went to pick up the ball in the 8th frame it just feels different. I set the ball in my left arm while I'm getting some air on my right hand and I see some dust on my black shirt right under where I was holding the ball. I really didn't think anything of it and went through my pre-shot routine. When I put my thumb in the ball all I could feel was this gritty compound in my thumbhole, almost like a very fine sand bordering on slide right. I set the ball back down on the rack and look into the thumbhole and low and behold the core had cracked on my brand new ball.

Now comes the million dollar question, do you take the chance the ball still might work or suck it up and pull something out of the bag and punch it out for 900? Back then I knew nothing about ball dynamics and how important the core is to overall ball dynames. I only really knew that certain cores created shapes that I liked to see and really matched up with my game.

As a result, I decided to stick with the ball. I threw one of the best balls I had thrown all night, but when the ball got to the spot it just kept going. The ball never even remotely turned towards the pocket. I pull out another ball and manage to still finish with a 268.

I finished with my career high series, but because of what happened that will always be the best/worst event of my bowling life. I will note that when Columbia found out what had happened they sent me two brand new Columbia Cuda/C's and an apology letter.

My only all-spare game was all 9/. 3 10s, 2 9s, 1 8pin, 3 7s, 1 2pin, and a strike on the fill ball. It was frustrating until about the 7th frame. Then it was just funny.

My best streak came a few years back. We had already bowled about 1/2 of the league, when one of the younger bowlers ( who was actually leading for high average at the time), made it a point to tell me "I am going to win high average this year, and there isn't anyone that can stop me".

He was averaging around 220, and I was around 212. What he said didn't bother me as much as the way he did/said it, sort of calling me out in front of a lot of guys I had bowled with for years, making it a point to single me out, as I had once been one of the better bowlers at our center.

It really made me mad, so I told him that I could catch him, and thanked him for his motivating speech. High average really wasn't a goal of mine, and never had been really, but I really did want to catch this guy now.

To make a long story shorter, I managed to average a touch over 236 for the second half of the league, which also allowed me to finish the league with a 224avg, beating him by three pins for high average.

Averaging over 700 for over 18 weeks in a row is my best streak. Sure wish I could even get close to that now, lol.

Last 3 weeks of league last year.  Shot a 300 each week of the 3 weeks.  825(1082 4 game), 797(1030), and 785(1005).  Hottest streak I've had.  I wished league went another week or two to see what would have happened.
