Just looking for some help from everyone Please!!!
My wife and I are looking into buying her brother a new ball for christmas and we need some help with the Entry balls Like the Amf Courage, Brunswick Grooves,Columbia Scouts and others.  What are the best for syn lanes and decent revs for a 13 yr old.  Open to any ideas and drill patterns please help me. Thank you everyone.

You are deffinitely on the right track with the balls you are looking at.  If you could give us some more info we might be able to give a little more advice.  Here are some questions I had.  Is he currently hooking the ball already.  Is he using a conventional or finger tip grip.  How large a kid is he.  How hard does he throw it and is he pretty consistant with hitting his mark and consistent with his release.  Sorry to throw it back at ya, but don't wanna give out bad info

I don't really play cards and I am not 79, but it fits together somehow.

My 13 year old daughter is doing quite well with a 13 lb. Ebonite Tornado TPS.  It's a low-load particle that hooks enough (it's currently drilled conventional) but doesn't scream left if the lanes are bone dry.

The league she currently bowls on is at 11:00 a.m. and she's second shift after some Preps.  The ball has worked out well so far and her average is currently at 137.

I'd take a good look at the Brunswick Groove for an entry level ball.  A few kids on her league have them and it seems to be a good learn-to-hook-a-little ball.

Hope this helps!

It`s not so much the composition of the lanes that matter... it`s the maintenance.  The timing and amount of oil applied to the lanes will likely have a greater affect on the balls reaction than whether the lanes are wood or synthetic...

That said, my son has a Groove Reactive, and it seems to be a pretty versatile ball, capable of handling most of the 'in between' conditions... medium dry to medium heavy oil.

The proshop in the house we bowl at is also pretty big on the Ebonite Tornado series balls, you might add them to the list and make it even more confusing still!
