Title: Best Lefty in the game today!
Post by: LuckyLefty on October 10, 2006, 09:00:48 AM
I'd love to see her against the men!

Cara Honeychurch....I put before in another post...I believe she has every element of a virtually perfect style for a pro bowler today.

Perfect flat loft, speed, revs, simplicity of style, balance, heart of a lion!

Best lefty in the game?  Any man have more of these things?

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS I am an absolute fan of Patrick Allen's style...but he has little loft!

Honeychurch has a great game with the perfect speed/rev ratio which as we all know optimizes carry percentage.  Best lefty in the game though....nah.  P.A. holds that crown with an Iron Fist.  Wait until a few years when you're treated with Cory Simmons and Rhino Page.  Both former National Amatuer Champions and Collegiate Champions in their own rights.  On the womens side of the game, Cara isn't touching Shannon P. in my book.  It would have been interesting to see those two match up.  I don't really understand where loft hurts or helps someone's game out so I don't see where the connection you're making about loft is going.  Please explain.

Probably for the girls Shannon Pluhowsky. The guys is a little tougher. Maybe Andrew Cain, Rhino Page, Jason Couch.. you can throw all of them out there.. the list can go on forever! But all have great accomplishments to their credit!

I'm confused....by MV bowler...(oh...I gave my opinion based on USBC Woman's challenge performance....commanding).  Not basing on accomplishments...only style!

Those are better than Cara Honeychurch or comparable? Or similar in skill?

Best?  Cara?  Or others BEST?  or better?

For DP3...I believe ability to loft when needed(I understand the great Earl had 3 varying distances he used along with....)...can be a great asset!  Takes heads out as Mika does so well at times on the right!

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS in previous posts I stated how similar Shannon's game is to the great Dave Davis'....outstanding I agree....I like Cara's maybe 1 milli IOTA better...Both Awesome styles!
PPS how do you think Cara would do against the Awesome Patrick Allen(I'm a big fan of his ability also)!  I think...a push!

im going to have to disagree with you, Patrick Allen is by far the best lefty in the game, and possibly the best on both sides. absolutely flawless game, great push away, can play anywhere, has enough power to carry on anything, but not too much to have to move to unreasionable spots on the lane. he is amazingly accurate and super versital with speed and axis tilt ect. IMO its between him and chris barnes for the best bowler out there today. but chris is not a lefty so that dosent matter to this thread. but back to the leftys, by far, PA dominates all others.

Did you see...CARA average I think about 24X in the USBC woman's challenge?

Simple no change in hand position release(like Earl), tons of intentional loft to conquer dryer lanes, almost Patrick Allen speed.

I saw more elements of Earl in her game than I have since I last saw the great one!

(I'm a great fan of Patrick Allen's also)...and it's ALL hard work!  Something to admire.  I'd love to see her head to head on the men's tour!

she is great, im not going to say she isint among the top on the left side, but i just cant see her being over PA on this one...look at the facts, and for the record, i think PA will hit new levels of his game for seasons to come because he, like TJ, has learned how to win.

Yes, at the end of the show, she said this was her last event.

To be honest I can't say shes the best based off just what I saw from the USBC challenge, her game I don't think has quite as much versatility as someone like PA, as for loft, did the loft come as an adjustment or as her natural game? Can she set the ball down softly so it will roll in oil? We didn't see that. And we never really saw her move in from where she was playing(not like lefties ever do, haha) just kidding, we've seen PA move in pretty well for a lefty at the U.S open when he beat Mika. Is she good? Heck yes, great instincts with those ball changes, and she could add some speed but I don't think shes above the top PBA lefties. Another thing is her ball had an awful lot of tilt. I don't know if thats a good or bad thing seeing as I don't know too much about rotation/tilt and their affects on a ball but just an observation.

I don't think that she has the power to compete with the men she does have a great game also the carry that they had with light hits was a lot greater than you see at most bowling alleys. I would have to go with Patrick Allen.Cara said that she would not be bowling professionally anymore either said that her family was first and that is great

parker is great, and at 1 time he was the greatest, im not taking that away from him, but IMO his time has passed and PA has steped up to take that spot...

Yes...sadly she is retiring and it is theoretical but what I saw!

As to loft...it seems when I used to watch her she had usually less and varied the amount.  This was a lot and I THOUGHT intentional for the shot...I could be wrong.

She WAS great.

Can anyone say Earl Anthony? Now I'm not taking anything away from the others mentioned but he was truly the master. And the only reason why Walter Ray caught him was because he passed on way too soon. I would have liked to see him with the equipment and the conditions of today.

absolute bowling...thank you...I appreciate that someone knows her game that well and can comment!

I was very impressed.

If you are ever in the states look me up!  I want to throw just like that.

It is in my opinion...perfect...simple style!

By the way...did she used to loft it less and just increased for this shot?

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS Jeff Carter thank you for chiming in....I enjoy watching the little bit I have seen of Richard Wolfe completely!

I like where this thread is going.  Rich Wolfe has an amazing game that I've had the pleasure of seeing live in the flesh many times bowling in and near his home territory, but as I watch some of the older shows I have from the PBA "Rebirth" Era(2001-2003), I'd have to say that Ricky Ward threw one of the best balls I've ever seen.  Such an amazing ball roll with the perfect revrate to speed ratio.  The few clips I've seen of Billy Oatman, who is exempt this year, he almost reminds me of Ward, form wise.

Is Ricky Ward even still bowling?
