Best low end oil ball?
« on: April 01, 2010, 08:57:37 AM »
Which ball in the current low end/entry level lines would be your best bet on a fresh medium/heavy oil THS? Riot, 505, etc.

Thanks.

Bingo!
Nothing else comes close for so little money except maybe Lanemasters Dynamic Power (not truly "low end", more like middle). Better have tons of oil for either.

How are you defining "low end" and "entry level?"

If you're willing to throw mid-pricers in there as well, then I respectfully submit the Diamondback for your consideration.

Onxy Vibe with the surface knocked off.

Hammer Jacked

You can pick up a lot of morich's upper end stuff for lower end prices so that may be an option.

Here are three good options and what they're going for from buddiesproshop.com:

Hammer Raw Hammer Jacked $108.95
Hammer Onyx Vibe $87.50
Visionary Ogre Particle $112.50

They all offer something a bit different. For the best all around ball, I'd go with the Onyx. If you take the surface down, it can cover some pretty heavy oil. Then, you would also have the option of smoothing it back out and/or applying polish to cover mediums. I have two Onyx, and they're both great.

The Ogre Particle is probably the best traditional oiler of the group. The ball reads the lane immediately and just digs in. It's not going to cover a ton of boards or big backend, but it will grip the lane and allow you to square up on the soup.

For me, I think the Jacked is probably your best bet. It gives a very firm read of the lane, but it still saves some energy for the backend. Numbers-wise, BTM rated it very close to the Storm Invasion in regard to hook, backend, etc. If you're looking for one of the modern oilers - meaning, a ball that digs in but doesn't roll out at your toes - this is incredible bang for your buck.

Roto Grip Riot. Same cover that was on their old top of the line stuff (epic series) less than $90 though. Great ball for a great price. Doesn't get any better.
