Best Mens bowling colleges! PLZ help!
« on: October 12, 2008, 10:29:02 AM »
Does anyone know where I can get a list of the best mens bowling colleges in the nation. I mean, obviously Wichita is near the top...

Anyway, I'm going to college next year, and I really want to bowl at the collegiate level. Whether we're the best in the nation is not important, but I want to bowl for a team that bowls in a lot of tournaments, so I can get the best experience.

Even if you don't have a full list, post who you think has some good college teams for the men!
--------------------
Righty
High rev rate (400-450 rpm)
Semi-high speed (16-17 mph)
Book average: 193 (current 236)

For a game based on the principles of science and math, bowling sure does have a bad habit of being illogical.

There are a lot of good ones. Sag valley, wichita, lindenwood, perdue, and others. go to bowl.com and looke under the collegiate and see who went to nationals last year and in the past. I go to ucf and we have gone to the national tournament since the start of the program 9 or so years ago

Pikeville (KY) is probably one of the better choices.  They have had a strong team the last few years, and since they keep so many and take everyone to the majority of the tournaments you have the opportunity to gain alot of experience and work your way up to A-Team for crunch time (the bigger tournaments they don't take everyone to). And if you are still a jr., on weekends where they don't have tournaments Ohio has 2 pretty good Jr. bowlers tours that offer alot of tournament play for scholorship money too.  Most of the people eligible usually go to them, so transportation shouldn't be a problem.  Alot of the other schools listed are great schools too.  So I'd look around and see what best suits you.

Here is a link to last season's final rankings:
http://collegebowling.com/rankings/pwrrank.asp?PwrRank=2007M171

I'm attending the University of Delaware now, and although we aren't one of the best teams, we do attend a lot of tournaments. We had one this weekend, and I have two the following two weekends, and at least one more before winter break, and then two over winter break. It usually doesn't matter how good the team is, there are usually a lot of tournaments for a team to attend.

MSU...we have always had a pretty good team, but im not gonna lie, we have some in coming freshman with some serious talent. We are a VERY deep team this year, especially with the senior leadership backing the freshman...

There are alot of school to look at. There are alot of good school, its just some have alot more funding then others. Alot of the ones you see at the top have alot of funding so they go to alot more tournements and can take more guys. This in tern leads to the ability to get more standing points and a better rank.

C-G Proshop-Scoot pretty much hit the nail on the head.  The top teams are all about money.  Now some of them don't have much funding from their colleges either but due to some insane fund raising done either team wise, or individual wise.  I mean you have some that travel in nice buses, some that don't hesitate to fly wherever, then those who either rent a van or drive our own cars.  We do the latter of the two.  Another thing is all about location.  Those a little further north or to towards the middle of the country do not usually have as far to travel for as many tournaments where our closest trip is going to be 6+ hours.  That combined with our 5 tournaments we went to last year explains our ranking of 40.
