Wayne Garber's bowling approach
« on: January 11, 2010, 06:10:38 AM »
Wayne Garber makes everyone who thought they had a bad approach look good. I guess it just proves that it doesn't matter how you get to the line, as long as it's the same everytime. Man did that look goofy though...

As was said earlier, if you can repeat it, you can find a way to score.

Supposedly, (nice word!!!!) technology is supposed to be able to eliminate the style and allow all styles to compete. I think that is exactly what we saw with Garber... the ability to use technology, eliminate style (rev rate, ball speed..etc) and point it at the pocket and still strike. Duke, WRW have been doing it for years. WRW does not have a "standard" style either however repeatbale. Hooking it on THS is one thing as it creates strikes... but, straighter is greater for the dough. Albeit Garbers approach is unique, I think it demonstrates the fact that, today its not about anything more than repeating (even a terrible approach) and having the right ball in your hand at the right time.

Garber's approach is the result of injuries. I don't care how goofy, strange, funny or whatever you think it is. Rob Stone is a jackass for laughing about how Garber's approach was.
The guy flat out got the job done! All those steps were to get him in time while keeping a nice loose arm swing. It is a great story, he overcame the injuries and misfortunes to realize his PBA dream. Also he knocked off one of the best bowlers on tour with WRWJR once in match play and again on TV! (in a roll off no less!)
