Mallott question
« on: December 17, 2008, 04:35:12 AM »
I was thinking about when he starts his approach how he slides his thumb out and back in to his ball. I was wondering if anyone has ever heard why exactly he does it. I was wondering if it was just a habit he formed or if it is something he uses to help keep his timing?? I was thinking it could be something used to insure timing is kept in consistent rythm with the pushaway.

I do the same thing on every shot.  My thumbholes are fairly snug and I got into the habit of pulling my thumb in and out to make sure my thumb isn't swelling and to ensure that I'm not gripping the ball.

Couldn't tell you why Wes does it...

That is something you would have to ask the big man himself, or someone on tour that knows him.

I can guess at it....could be to keep his hand and grip loose, could be a timing mechanism, or many other things.
