High track is usually a result of too much grip pressure: squeezing, "death grip", whatever you want to call it. Low flaring cores/drillings make matters worse, but the release is what causes the clipping. Stronger cores/drillings just get you rolling away from the holes earlier down the lane, the ball still hits the holes the first couple revs if you are a high tracker.
