Saw something great and sad at the lanes today
« on: March 06, 2010, 02:02:08 PM »
Every Saturday a house here holds a King of the Hill tourney.  There''s usually around 50 or so guys (and ladies) that show up, but there were over 70 today from all over the area.

Today a guy came up that doesn''t make it every Saturday, but he''s there often enough.  He had a day that we all dream of.  279-300-300 to break our city record by 11 pins.  He''s a heck of a nice guy and obviously a pretty good bowler.

When talking to some other guys down there after this terrific achievement, it was odd that they just didn''t seem very impressed.  A couple even told me that it was no big deal.  The reason?  The guy that just threw 35 out of 36 (left a 9 pin) is a lefty.  Oh, and we move pairs after every game with no practice shots on the new lanes.

I could go on about this for awhile, but really I''m just saddened and a little pissed off by it.  Everyone there was witness to a set that they will probably never see again and there were mixed feelings because of what hand the guy bowls with?  My best guess is that people are both ignorant and jealous.  Maybe they think that if they were lefties that they could do it themselves?

I took a very crappy vid with my cell phone of his last 2 shots that I will put up later.  Wall or not, lefty or righty, you get props from me when you shoot like that.

Bonus video of Jesse Buss shooting 299 that same day.  He only had 798...

the previous record was by mike dole, a lefty as well...

Dole had it for awhile, but Aaron Buss broke that.

What an awesome set!  Got to love DC Lanes in Rockford, IL.  As much as I hate to say this, bowling in that tournament in the past and I do have a claim as King from a few years back, there are way too many people that bowl in this who think they are God's gift to bowling and act as such and then there are ones that just let there bowling do the talking.  It never ceases to amaze me that people can't just give credit when someone bowls a set like that or even wins the tournament.  Who cares if you are right or left handed, everyone still needs to knock those pins down.

Wow... I'm right handed & don't hate left handers....  I think it was a great accomplishment. If you see him again, congratulate him for us.

These other clown "people" are probably biased about everything else in their life...  You know they probably hate gays, won't have em for friends, hate other races, religions, etc etc..  Just be thankful that you aren't that way & raise your kids not to be either.
