I am looking for a new spare ball. I was thinking of the storm spare or a maxim or maybe a blue dot/white dot. Has anyone had experience with any of these or can recommend something els.
Many thanks, Alex

Yea, not trying to knock you, but its spare, not spear, just for a little info to know, and yea, plastic is plastic, they all go straight, some are cheaper, i would just get the cheapest one you cant find.

AM not A CHICK OF BOWLING but I wanted to be in Manda's clique
And why would I "saw" pins in half, THATS A WASTE OF PINS! I'd rather blow it over with my storm, and 21mph ball speed on dry shots.

wutch-u talkin' 'bout Willis?

just throw strikes

the best spare ball is the one YOU can make hit the pins. I like using plastic for single pins and my normal ball for multipin conversions. for plastic, they are all fairly similar so pick one that fits your taste and budget.

xxxl. best spare ball on the market because it has a core for extra punch, plus can be used a s strike ball for fried lanes.

You can always hit em hard when you've got the balls

if you're dead set on getting the plastic ball that goes the straightest get a storm spare---it has a hardness rating of 90. the columbia blue dot is a close second at 88. if you're not that picky get any plastic ball---it'll do.

Why would you want extra punch on a spare ball?
I thought the theory of a spare ball was to go straight. Loading up a plastic ball with a hooking weightblock defeats the purpose of going straight at your spares. And if the lanes are truly scorched, every plastic ball is going to hook.
In my one league, which I swear isn't ABC legal there is so little oil on freshly run lanes, I use my plastic ball for strikes and am averaging 200+. A Pearl Hammer would be perfect, but I can't throw Hammer, oh well.
The perfect spare ball is the one that goes straight. Mike Austin's Pro Shop is giving away a free Dyno-thane American Eagle spare ball (same one I use) with every purchase of a Dyno-thane high-end ball. So in my opinion, this would be the best spare ball... it's FREE!

Hardest hitting (and only 2-piece?) plastic ball ever made, hands down.
It's a bit pricey though.
I think the AMF Purple Sumo was a two piece polyester ball and that thing hit harder than any plastic ball I've ever seen. But again, that's not really a spare ball.

Did I see someone say get a XXXL for a spare ball? Why would you spend $140
for a spare ball? For the money just get a old fashion White dot for $50. I got
one and that thing goes dead straight for my corner pins.
-
You couldn't get a cheaper spare ball than my Storm Football, that and the PDW, plus 3 games with the PBA Pros in a Pro AM last year.

Why? BEcuase for 140 you get a great spare ball or all conditions, plus a first frame ball for drier lanes, your actually saving about 100 dollars if you have a ball for each condition like most people, that's why.

IF you really want to be cool with your spare ball, I suggest you go out and look for NIB rubber ball and polish it up. Those are the best when you see somebody out use a rubber ball for spares.

my spare ball has started to track up a bit, like not nicked up or nething just like sanded on the track portion. i've polished it using a spinner and track clean and polish, track magic, storm xtra, track delayed reaction, and even car wax. Nothing seems to work for more then 20-30 games. do you guys have any suggestions besides resurface/ buying a new ball? it used to go dead straight and i no its not that big of a deal but its kind of annoying that it grabs outside of 5. thanks.
