Best way to get sponsered.

Was wondering if anyone can tell me the best way to get sponsered by a ball company. i have a 230+ average. Can play a coast to coast or a down and in line. I am going to be hitting some reginonals in the south and the U S Open in July.

I have been trying to get on ball staff for some time now, and this year I really got feedback my resume is strong good enough to be on staff but I am not working in a proshop, I haven’t participated in any regional or pba events yet.  I bowl in a fair amount of tournaments as well as assistant coach on the college level.  From a sales person stand point how would I be able sale the product.  Bowling in league alone isn’t good enough.  We have to win a lot like a whole lot (tournaments, sport shot, house shot, bowl in regional and pba events)  I have been discouraged in the past but now that I know and completely understand that gives me a better understanding why I am not on staff yet.  We are in the same boat please don’t give up and do what you have to, ball staff will come.

Thanks ronaldhjr. i actually Coown a proshop. The problem with me is there is only two bowling houses where i live and both of them have proshops located in them. One bowling alley runned and one the proshop owns the space. So either one of them is leaving but i still run my proshop. I am a coach too. Trying to become a high school coach. Please do not give up roanldhjr. You can do it too.

I'm not trying to be mean, just offering a suggestion that might help you. Work on your communication skills. If your application contains the same style of writing you have demonstrated here, it might be hurting your chances.

Being a member of an amateur or advisory staff is pretty difficult . . you need to have experience and success in serious, high level competitions and enough perceived influence to be able to help their brand, because at the end of the day, that's what it boils down to.  If the company thinks that you can help improve their sales, that's what matters.  Most companies only add people to their staff once a year.  You would have to fill out the staff request, and some companies you have to contact to obtain a copy.  Storm's is on their website, and they have some very clear requirements for joining their staff, you might want to check it out.

While every company is different, here is a quote I received from one company earlier this year regarding a staff inquiry

"I thank you for your interest in joining our amateur/regional staff. We select staff players based on bowling ability, bowling accomplishments, tournament schedule, involvement in a bowling center and/or pro shop, and location. The typical staffer has a 220+ league average, bowls in 2-3 leagues per week and 20+ tournaments per year, and has some involvement in a bowling center or pro shop."

 I average 234 or higher on house shots, I have shot an 870, 810, 830, and 2 780+ series in the past 7 months all at different housed, I average 220+ on many different sport shots, and I would gladly travel everywhere on the planet for them. Because of this and how I recommend storm equipment to everyone, I thought they would let me be a staff member. Plus with all of the high series I have been shooting with the Frantic, victory road, hyroad, and lucid, the bowling alleys around me had a boom in storm Sales thanks to me.......

Weeks later, after shooting my highest series, I was offered to test the sync out and write a review about it. Next storm sent me an amateur staff membership. I filled it out then returned it. At that moment I signed the contract, I was considered a Storm Staff member. I called a guy to figure out what I needed to do to get some equipment. I then received a call stating because I do not have a licensed proshop, I can not be a storm amateur staff member and that they had thought I was someone else who lives in North Carolina that operates a pro shop.

Well I own my own drill press. I drill my own equipment and anybody else who needs me to do so. I am not licensed though so I cant buy equipment from a distributor at pro-shop price. So this is just a hobby for quick cash..

I avidly throw storm and roto grip and nothing else. I recommend storm and roto grip and nothing else.

However there is always some special case though. I was told by storm sales reps that YOU CAN NOT BECOME A STORM STAFF MEMBER AND RECEIVE EQUIPMENT UNLESS YOU OWN AND OPERATE A PRO-SHOP. However, Storm LIED to me about this because I have a friend that averages 238 and he is now sponsored by storm. HE DOES NOT OWN HIS OWN PRO-SHOP But he knows someone. HE KNOWS SOMEONE. So I have discovered to be on storm's amateur staff, it comes down to one of two options.
#1.. Do you own and operate a Pro-shop of course
#2.. As Everything else in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Who you know!!!!! Unfortunately, this is how everything in America works.

We are a licensed pro shop. I shot Three back to back 300s with my fireroad and the pro shop in the bowling alley sold 14 in two days cause i did it. But the thing is I will be more than happy to sell and promote any ball brand storm,brunswick, Morich. it does not matter to me but I will not promote just one brand unless sponsered by them.

It's helpful to be in the business, whether at a center or a pro shop, but not required.  The last two posters made mention of some big scores/averages, but none have mentioned if they bowl any tournaments or how many a year.

It's pretty simple marketing, exposure is key.  If you're bowling league once or twice a week that only touches a small market place.  If you are in the business you can add another couple hundred people to your market (based on your demographic) Now if you bowl a ton of tournaments you add a few more hundred people to your market.  Not saying there are not people on staff that don't own a pro shop, because there are, but i'm guessing they are pretty solid bowlers.

Let's not forget these are generally 1 year contracts, after that year if the company feels you haven't brought anything to the table you are probably not getting renewed for another year.  I know with the EBI brand, you are required to "work" a certain amount of DEMO days when they are in your area, and i'm sure every other brand is the same way.

I bowled 12 tournaments with ths, 7 tournaments with kegel patterns, 3 sasba tournaments, nationals, state, and city tournaments. In exception to the nationals, which is because they did not re-oil the lanes after each session, I averaged 230+ in nearly all 22 tournaments in the exception of two sport shot conditions, I bowled on.
One tournament in alabama I had an average of 259 in a 12 game set.
My lowest was actually on the kegel boardwalk of a 219 then kegel dead man of a 223.
I have counted the sell of 50+ storm bowling balls getting sold in the past half a year thanks to me. So if you are trying to get on with storm it comes down to who you know.

I was going to say start with learning to spell sponsor (or how to hit the spell check button).  I'm not the grammar police by any means, but something as important as that or a resume of any kind, don't spell stuff wrong when a simple button click would address the problem and wonder why you were not selected.

Stop drilling for anybody but yourself and you may have a chance.  They probably found out you drill out of the house.  No ball company can or will support somebody taking business away from a legit shop.
