Better ball fit device needed
« on: October 03, 2006, 02:07:31 AM »
Somebody please invent a reusable test "ball" with adjustable pitches and spans that we can actually bowl a few games with on the lanes with various releases, adjust, bowl a few more games, adjust, etc. until we get the perfect fit to be used in drilling all our balls.  That sure would make getting the perfect ball fit a snap.

PS one of our fellow members out here had a great idea!

Get one of those grip locs...they are 1 3/8.  Gives about 3/8 adjustibity or at least 1/4 for most...and create several slugs of differing spans and pitches(also 1/4 adjustibilty) and insert and try!

Great idea really for testing thumb pitches and spans(fingers not adjusted of course).

There is a ball you can change pitches etc on, but im unsure you can bowl with it.

If I threw our Jayhawk ball down the lane it would probably shatter on impact.  The thing with the adjustable ball that you can throw would be you would have to carry one in each weight and make it so that nothing would stick out of the ball to catch on the lane.  That could get expensive.

Lefty, I here your idea and drill the Griplocs for my customers.  Thing is, are you going to eat the cost of creating almost an infinite number of slugs, wasting material to have on hand and then are you going to have numerous balls that have different spans for people to try?  I know in our shop space is at a premium.  Nice idea, just don't think its rational.

Turbo Switch Grips may also work, but you wouldn't be able to change the spans all that much.
