Free Proshop Database - New Version!
« on: December 07, 2007, 03:41:56 PM »
Hi Proshops,

I have developed a proshop Database for all of your customer records, grip specs, pitches, holes sizes, PAP's, inserts, sleeves, slugs and even including a 6 ball arsenal for the customer, that includes all of the USBC approved bowling balls updated through May 2009.

This piece of software is available through me at no cost with a BowlingChat.net account and as long as you agree to NOT distribute it without my consent.

I made this database as a service to all of the proshops out there that cannot afford to purchase a commercial product.

Here is a screen shot of the database.
It requires Microsoft Access 2003 or greater to run.

each record prints on a 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper with 1/2" Margins.

Catch me on BowlingChat.net, or PM me here for more details.

That's verrrry impressive. I bet Visual Basic would work nice for something like that, I should try it. Very nice job. I like it a lot.

Lokks like a very fine pro shop tool. If I was still "in the business", i'd take you up on your offer in a second. Thanks to you for taking the time to make the game a little better for everyone!!

Do you have the pitch fields set up to automatically set the reverse pitch to zero if there is forward pitch and vice versa?  Might help alleviate confusion when specs get changed on the DB.

I can't remember what all widgets Access has, but maybe there's a slider you can use to adjust the forward/reverse and left/right pitches.  Center it for 0, then moving it up/down or left/right adjusts the pitch value.

I don't know how much work that would be to do in Access.  I played around with QT for a while and one of the tutorials had a slider that set some other value.

Not sure about that slider deal.
Its just a combo box with data from a lookup table.

It wasnt too complex to make, it took me about 6 hours or so.
Just a little something to make it easier for pro shops to store and print out records.

with 1/2" margins it prints out perfect.
I couldnt squeeze everything in with 1" margins.

MegaMav -- My shop doesn't have a computer, so I won't be able to use the program.  It does look good, though.  You might want to consider adding a spot to input info on type and size of finger grips, slugs, or thumb sleeves used.  --  JohnP

I would also like to add that you are missing a spot for people with thumb offsets and ovals #s.

If you can send me the range, increments and types out there, I will consider adding fields.

It will be tough to keep it orderly, as I would like to keep the ability to print it out all on one page with 1/2" margins.
I already dropped the layouts for each ball listed to put in the notes section.
Permanent fields for all would be nice, but im putting most of the "Needs" as permanent, and putting all of the miscellaneous "Wants" in the notes field.
