Rerack?

A few weeks back, we were bowling on 11 and 12.  This pair has notorious bad racks, you see more wierd leaves on this pair than any other in the house.  I normally don't rerack, but this particular night the 3 pin was coming up wayyy of spot every now and then.  You could see a good portion of the 9 pin standing directly in front of the rack.  So, I pushed reset, struck.  No biggie.

But when is the last time YOU took a rerack?

One house in henderson nevada sunset lanes the racks are offset on certain pairs about every other rack, so some nights as many 7-8 times. Last night zero i was on one of the few on spot pairs in the place, the place is a hole but it is the only real bowling center left in the las vegas area that is not totally a casino with losers like JDT bowling in them.

If the 3 pin is off closer to the headpin, or if the 6 pin is off at all, I'll take a rereack. It usually only happens once a night, depending on where i'm bowling.

Last time i did a rerack was at our "regionals".. Was on an messed up pair, on which i had horrible carry on the right lane.. Halfway thru the second game i finally caught a break and got another strike on the right lane, got the double and reracked on the right lane because the headpin was set a bit off.. Missed the headpin, washout and didn't convert.. Lol..

Though in practice, I once had the front 9, reracked and "swished" a 7-10.. Lol..

If you know your chances of striking are better, why not do it?  We have a good payout on our Wednesday scratch league, I owe it to my team to do everything I can to aid my ability to strike.  The rerack I took was late in game 4, having watched wierd leaves all night on that lane from both teams.

If it's a really bad rack - like I can see the 5 pin behind the headpin, or something like that, AND it's an important shot, for whatever reason, I might rerack it. Otherwise, I'll point it out to a teammate, and shoot it anyway, just to see what happens.

Other than that, I only rerack when there's a pin missing.

YOu could rerack till pigs fly and not get a good rack in one house we bowl league in.  Pins are terribly off spot especially on 27/28.  They are so bad that neither right nor left handers get much carry.  

In fact last time our 4 man team league was there between the two teams we had 19 splits in the first game on 28 alone.  Now if it was just a bowler or two that were not lined up I'd see it.  But both teams, all bowlers??  

When the lane guy came around we mentioned it to him.  He couldn't see the issue really (he's not a bowler) but offered to work on it between games if we wanted to take about 10 min.  He did whatever he SHOULD have done years ago and actually got the pin spots better.  Beginning of the second game both teams on that lane struck 7 times in a row.  

Even though the lane guy denied that the pins were off spot he did something back there and they were better.  Sometimes it won't matter if you rerack if the tables are not right and your lane man can't/won't see the pin spots.
