Is spinning the ball the best for Dry Lanes?
« on: February 10, 2007, 06:30:30 AM »
Is spinning the ball the best choice? I see people spinning the ball in leagues and tend to get higher scores when the lanes are dry. I see many different styles for this release. I see people with and with out wrist supports. Does someone have  a video showing the proper way to spin a ball? Or there something else I should try?

Plastic, tried and true.  When all else fails, if they are that dry, plastic will hook significantly and keep you competitive without a radical change in release that you won't be good at.

In Asian spinning is a common release. But they use light balls, like 12#.

Bones,

Do you keep your arm straight? At release does thumb and fingers come out at the same time?

There is also a difference between a spinner, and the "helicopter release" used so successfully in Asia, and in international competition.
