Big Ears!
« on: July 28, 2004, 06:32:33 AM »
I love overhearing others talk during tournaments.

Recently one overheard statement was " Justice has been served" after one guy lost. Makes you wonder what they meant.

My son gets upset if I brag about him while he's bowling. He feels pressured. We spent a lot of money as the kids grew up on bowling, nice to see him do well and it paid off.

Years back I was sitting away from hubby in a Local City Masters tournament. The guy he was bowling against was local hot shot there, they were really knocking my hubby's form/ clothes, etc. I sat quietly but it sure felt great when he kicked the dude's butt big time!!!

I am learning I need to watch what I say. I recognized a good bowler from another tournament. After a squad I walked up to comment he had good scores that day, he was another bowler on that pair, turned out he was the low guy with scores I could've beat that day. 2 of the guys did very well, I assummed he was one of them. I didn't mean to be a wise guy.

I now try not to talk to bowlers before they're all done. I feel like a hex. Several times I've watched a guy bowl a great game, may a 270 or better. Go up while there moving and genuinly say good game, way to go, hope you keep it up, then next game they bowl like crap.

I honestly try not to be that cruel. One tournament there were only 4 guys in my sons category. Three of them (him included) on one lane and a fourth a few lanes down. My son recognized the other 2 he was bowling with. I was telling them about the times my wishing people well put a hex on them. They kidded me to go do it. Well, he did very well that squad, beat them out. I went over commented nice bowling, good luck.

Next time we checked the site, he poored bad the next match and didn't go on.
