Title: Big Four
Post by: Scolai on October 06, 2003, 09:43:21 AM
Interesting little event for me this evening.  In the 7th frame of game 1, I left a gaping hole in the middle of the rack and was faced with the 4-6-7-10.  Not really even thinking, just wanting to get count and sit down, I grabbed my strike ball and threw it hard (aggressively?) at the 6-10.  I just clipped the 6 on the inside and sent it flying into the sideboard.  It bounced back and kicked the 10 pin across the deck where, as it fell, it took out the 4-7.

I stood there looking at the fallen pins.  The look on my face must have been similar to what it would have been had I just been flashed by a lane waitress - you know, a combination of shock and awe with a hint of pleasure.  I was dumbfounded as I came off the approach to the high-fives of my teammates and congratulations of adjacent lanes.  It was pretty weird.

Anyway, it's my first big split conversion.  I'll next start trying to figure a way to get the 7-10 and the Church.

Congratulations!  I think the GC and the 7-10 will be a piece of cake compared to the Big Four.

Good on you. I've never seen the big four converted. Too often I've seen the
6 pin slide over to the other side of the lane and end up laying between the
4 and 7 pins or vice versa. They wobble but don't fall.

I've seen the big 4 converted a few times, ....and honestly, I've seen it done the way PinNut did it than any other time...only once did I see someone "slide" either the 6 or 4 over

I've only picked up the Greek Church. Hit the 3 on the right, took out the 7 pin, turned around, and missed the rest of it...
Never picked up the big four or 7-10, although I've had the 7-10 picked up against me several times in the 10th.

Good shooting,intented or not.
Last night in league I almost spared the 7,9,10.
Put the ball in the middle of the 9-10
and the 9 pin hit the 7 but it didn't fall

Maybe next time

That's the hard way to make the Big Four.  The time that I made it (unfortunately, not in league) I sent the 6-pin sliding across the lane, and the 6-pin managed to take out the 4 and 7.....it was just a thin hit on the 6.

I did get the patch for the 7-10 in league one night, and I've picked up the Greek Church in league too.  Of the three, the Greek Church is probably the easiest one to convert.
