Biggest Backend Skid/Flip Reactive???
« on: June 10, 2003, 10:42:32 PM »
What ball currently on the market has the biggest backend (most forgiving) reaction? I need a super skid/flipping ball since I already have a ton of stuff that gets into an early roll. Don't like particle covers...seem to be too over/under for me. I need something for medium oil (40-43ft) with stripped backends...

I bought a Cherry Bomb, but was very disappointed because I could not get it to turn the corner. Washed-out a ton with it...if I had more hand then I probably could have gotten more out of it, but I don't.  I had it drilled label leverage with pretty good specs.

Thanks

FZ,
I've thrown both of these.....Silver Streak, solid and pearl!! Both have monstrous backends..I would call them HARD, HARD arcs!  My buddy has a pearl that I've thrown and it makes me look like I have hand.....I have a solid drilled 4 label, ....it's just a sick ball...dry board seeking missile !

The Fuze Igniter would be worthy of consideration as well.

Jeff & Rag:  How would the Retro Roto Blue Pearl compare to the Silver Streak Pearl?

Another vote for the Silver Streaks, although the Raging Red Fuze is REALLY impressive, and you can get one on ebay shipped to you for under 100 bucks.

Blue Retro was a huge skid flip ball, very similar to a Thunder Road Pearl.  As far as a the pattern you are talking about I myself would consider that a long pattern at (40-43 Feet) but you say medium oil.  So you mean the volume isn't quite heavy.  So you couldn't get a pearl reactive to turn the corner I would suggest a pearl particle then.  Perhaps the new Pure Fuel coming out July 15th would be a good choice for you.  I think the Silver Streak Pearl would be a good ball because it is harder on the backend then your CB, but not by that many boards.  So I would suggest the new Pure Fuel as the core and cover should match up great for you.

Thanks,

If you're looking at pearlized particle, there's always the Threat which has a monster backend for me.

Blue Retro has the biggest backend ive seen...next would be the Silver Streak Pearl...the SSP is probably the best way to go for the conditions you are bowling on. If you are looking for a ball the goes long and will snap back and is consitant...look for an Assault Pearl...you will not be dissapointed..all 3 Roto's are excellent balls...

And if we're talking about sports players in general, Serena Willams has a backend that puts any ball on any condition to shame.

I bought an Eraser Blaze. I put the pin under my middle finger and kicked the c.g. 30 degrees out towards my pap. The best ball i have had for medium wet/dry
Goes nice and long then turns like someone kicked it towards the pocket.

I can't believe the number of people here who've posted balls that may have booming backs on what they bowl on without giving consideration to what the original poster said.

Folks, he said that the Cherry Bomb was having trouble turning the corner for him. The CB is one of the most aggressive reactives on the market right now. If he's washing out with that, how can you possibly be reccommending WEAKER balls? It didn't sound like rollout was his problem, If anything carrydown might have been an issue.

Bottom line, I just dont see how you could reccommend anything less than a SUPER aggressive reactive, or a particle pearl.

My personal suggestion to you Freakzilla, instead of giving up on the CB right now, try hitting it with just a bit of surface, Maybe bring it down to a matte 1200 or a slightly polished 1000. It should turn the corner a bit better for you.

If that's still not working, I would reccomend you look at almost any of the particle pearls with dynamic cores. The Freak Out, Eraser PP, & Pure Fuel (yet to be released) are just a couple of options. The particle should help with the break, but the pearl tends to send them quite long (depending on the drilling of course).

Good luck!

To add on to Bjaackers point, a label leverage drilling that Freak has on his Cherry Bomb, usually will give you more over/under, as compared to a CG out drillling. A different drilling and/or slightly changing the surface is all that he probably needs. =:^D
