lane condition at southpoint las vegas?
« on: July 03, 2009, 09:04:28 AM »
Does anybody know what's the lanes condition at southpoint las vegas? is it dry like Sam's town or more oil ? Or a sport shot is there a shot outside or inside?

What ball surface, layout work best for southpoint?

Thanks.

The great wall of China. I've know more then a few league bowlers leave Strike Zone at Sunset Station(after complaining about the shot not treating them right), and go to Southpoint for the primary reason of raising their average 10 to 15 pins. Really nice and well run house with alot of free bounce back to the pocket on the outside, free hold on the inside.

They have the ability to put down whatever shot they want.  It just depends
on the needs of the tourney.  I have seen leagues score very easy and some
tournaments be very difficult.

Where do some of you get that from?  I bowled at Sam's Town last year and it was tight....three years before that it was on fire.

They put down what they want...it depends on what the tournament dictates.

Newbie didn't say he was coming in for tournament and wanted posters to predict the shot

The question asked as I understood it was regarding the everyday shot at SouthPoint which is a high scoring wall.

Of course they can put down whatever they want if it was tournament, everyone knows that so why even ask the question.

Because their house shot varies from day to day.  For what reason, I do not
know but I have bowled pot games on Sunday morning with a reasonable amount of
oil, only to come back on Monday in a travel league to find it bone dry.  It
can be very unpredictable.

I just got back from Vegas bowling a tournament at the South Point, bowled there June 25th-28th.  The lane conditions for that tournament were very, very dry.  I took a Black Pearl Reactive, a Black Pearl Particle, a Sting and had a Black Diamond drilled while there. The only two ball that left my bag was the Black Pearl Reactive and my spare ball.

I normally don't hook the ball that much, but during this tourney I could hook the entire lane with a ton of speed. Some lanes were just to dry and I had to use my spare ball a few times.

For the 19 games I rolled, I had scores ranging from 180 up to 278(2).  The high end of the house(lanes 33-64 seemed to be a little tighter but not much). On the low end(1-32) I stood on 25-30 with my feet and swung ball out far right aiming right of the last range finder at 45', but when on the high side(32-64) I was able to play a little straighter(20-25 with feet and targeting at the same area as mentioned above).  Basically you just needed to swing it right of the last range finder and loop it around it and you could score pretty well.  I did notice the lefties could and were playing much straighter than the righties.

My tournament results are as follows:
Team Event: 1st Place
Singles: 4th Place
Doubles: 5th
Other Events: Mixed doubles and No-Tap Doubles(didn't cash), more of the fun events of the tournament.

Hope this helps,

They oil twice a day, every day.  This didn't happen once, I live here and
frequent the place.
