« on: December 06, 2009, 11:25:54 AM »
well im asking this in the bowling section as its bowling related.

I have to come up with a product and a marketing plan, and i want to come up with a bowling related product and having trouble and wanted some input.

Name something that you wish was available that is not and how much would you pay for this item?

i like the idea, could plug it into the cigarette lighter, do have a question though, for only $50 would it be like an attachment to a bowling bag? as bowling bags alone retail for much more.

for the bag it was just a guess on price it could be higher like other bags are

What are you trying to achieve with them? I can't see what utility having an interchangeable finger insert would be, if you can, I'd be happy to have it explained.

As for an in car ball warmer, you could use the microwaveable hand-warmers that heat up when you apply pressure. As long as within your bag you can have them far enough so they don't crack the ball.

I think if someone here could come up with something that's truly unique and useful, they probably wouldn't be putting it on the internet for free. I know I wouldn't.

for me, my fingers swell up more than my thumb does, and i like to have a fairly tight fit with my inserts. So since i like to have my inserts tight there at first were many times that when  i went to bowl my fingers wouldnt fit into the ball. So now i have to go up a size to accommodate my fingers swelling and the fit just isnt there, so being able to change them easily would be grand.

Going with a Vacu-Grip on your inserts would do the trick.. I had the same problems.. My fingers swell and shrink like crazy from day to day..
Since using Vacu's i don't have to worry about it anymore..

IMO the vacu-grip system solves this.

Gotta agree, Vacu-Grips are the best thing ever if you have trouble with your fingers swelling and shrinking.  I can't throw a ball without Vacu-Grips anymore!

I like the bowling ball heater since I go right from an 8 hour work day to bowling, I use a really thick blanket to cover them in the winter.  A heater would get rid of that, but it would somehow have to be wireless and battery operated.  and small enough to fit in the bag.  You would also have to worry about heating both bowling balls in a bag instead of just one.  So in a 4 ball bowling bag you would need 4 of them.  But they can''t produce so much heat that they make the ball sweat too much, like what tends to happen in the summer.

The other option is just to make one big one that does produce a lot of heat that someone can just stick in the back of there car.

An insert that fits in your bowling bag that absorbs oil.  Should surround the ball completely.  Would have to be removable and machine washable.

Might work well in conjunction with the ball warmer the others talked about.  Might even think about using something similar to an electric blanket with different heat settings.  A low setting to keep the balls warm, and a high setting to make the balls sweat oil.  Guess the part that absorbs the oil would have to seperate from the warmer so you could wash it.

How about a range finder.  A range finder that can  determine the end of the pattern.  Here in Michigan centers seem to keep the pattern length a secret, with a revolutionary tool like this what would they do then?

How about an additive to the oil that can be seen by special glasses. Put the glasses on and you would be able to see the oil pattern and the carrydown.

You get the same affect as a Vacu grip by drilling the pilot hole for the grip 1/32 - 1/16" oversized and gluing just the front and sides of the grip.  The ball heater is a pretty good idea, put it on a thermostat so it cycles on and off to keep the equipment at whatever temperature you set.  --  JohnP
