Dry Lane Ball

Hi all,
  I am in the market for a dry lane ball and wondering what has worked for everyone.  Right now my mildest piece is a Hot Rod drilled pin over the fingers and the MB under my VAL, But I find that if the heads are too dry it will move too early. I also have a high track and a below avg ball speed(I'm working on it).

  And for my definition of dry is the second set and getting on a pair of lanes where someone has been using a sanded V2 strong and the heads are realllyy dry, but there is still an out of bounds around 7 or 8.  

  I have been looking into the Sonic X solid, but I am looking for everyone's opinion.

i would suggest the sonic x pearl before the solid..goes farther before making it's move.i'd still drill it up pretty aggresive..will work better than the solid.hope this helps.

bowlingmytmouse -- For really dry lanes, Lane 1 XXL (urethane), Visionary Slate Blue Gargoyle(urethane), or Lane 1 XXXL (plastic).  --  JohnP

The comments prior to this will give you a lot more then I can .. but I will tell you that I've had some success on dry lanes with a LANE 1 VIPER!

When the lanes are super dry, my Barbed Wire works very good, you can see my drilling in my profile. Doesn't like it when there is any semblance of medium head oil though...

Hey J(bmm),

Honestly, with your hand and speed you could get away with something like a Big Hit, or Storm Hit or Tornado warning.  You have the revrate to get three-piece reactive balls to carry when it's dry, where people like me can't get them to finish.  Plus they're cheap too so if you don't like it you could always get something else.  Something like a Sonic Solid or Sonic X or Barbed Wire would probaly still be too much on the dry that we see sometimes.  Just stay away from Columbia and Brunswick covers, they tend to put the strong stuff on their three piece balls.  I say get a Red/Blue Hit, Hammer Red Urethane Pearl, Barrage, or the Red/Green Tornado Warning.

Has anyone used the Trooper I think its called, the urethane version of the super trooper?  And whats that Brunswick piece that isn't supposed to hook?

Go with the Slate Blue Gargoyle.  I have thrown an couple of them with different drillings.  Both were very predictable amd needless to say, had the hitting power of a high end ball, not what you would expect from a urethane.

I use a Visionary Green Gargoyle that works terrific when the lanes dry up. I play from the outside and I have to put a TON of hand on it to get it to go past the head pin......but even when it does, this ball has great hitting power and more often than not gives me the brooklyn.

Thanks for the replies guys, I went with a Visionary Glowing Amulet, haven't got a chance to use it yet on dry, but boy does it hit hard!!!! And I didn't just dosregard everyone's input, it was either that or the Blue slate.
