Sheer or the Monster, or.....?
« on: August 21, 2004, 03:03:11 PM »
OK, I'm truly trying to finalize my arsenal....Current one as follows:

Light- Power Groove Reactive
Medium- N/A
Heavy- Diesel particle

Obviously, I have a gap in the medium spot.  I narrowed it down to the sheer havoc, and the Monster Smash/R.  Now, I had the smashr before, but it was only 14 (I throw 15) so I threw it too fast, but I liked it for the most part.  I wonder if I should just buy another, or go with something new, from a different company (sheer havoc).  How do you think they compare, and would fit in?

I was thinking of a Big Blue Pearl (to get the free spare ball which I desperately need), but I thought that there would be too much overlap with the diesel that it wouldn't work.  Or would I be able to take it to a higher finish and solve that problem?

So, should I go familiar (smashr), go new with a particle pearl (Sheer Havoc), or could I go with the wallet easy option of the Big Blue Pearl/Spare, but with a high finish?

Please give advice.

Can that ball handle carrydown well?

Well, actually the Diesel is drilled to roll early, so I'd want to drill it long...

I heard that particle pearls work well on a reverse block.

I should have mentioned that, but I thought people would look in my profile for info and see that.

Well, I don't want to drill it early though....I suppose I can figure out the layout once I settle on something.

One of the big winners on the tour last last told my buddy that the BBP will just go forever with a mild backend. If you want to get through carrydown get a Sheer Havoc and drill it to roll in the midlane a little. That way it will still have some snap left at the end. Always try to avoid going around the carrydown. It is not the answer. Read Mo's column in BTM 2004 March issue. Great ways to get by carrydown. The Sheer is a particle pearl and should be great for what you need. Plus the cover is easily adjustable so if you wanted to dull it just go a little at a time. Power Plus covers tune nicely. Hope this helps.

So, it's starting to look like the Sheer Havoc or Classic Zone...

The Sheer is a redo of the Heat 2 (same core) with an updated coverstock. Great ball for kick on the end. A real tried and proven product so I don't believe you could go wrong with it as a choice.
