A certain bowling blogger you probably know of believes that bowling should use "blue oil" 100% of the time. League bowling, local tournament bowling, all USBC tournaments (including the Open and Women's Championships) and all rounds of PBA and PWBA events.

So I ask, do you want to see blue oil used in your bowling league?

NO

I wouldn't really care if they did use it, But I think for the majority of league bowlers it would be meaningless to them.

Other than to maybe show them just how fast the oil is being depleted.

Which would probably be come a nightmare for the house, As they would then have to listen to everyone complaining about the conditions and wanting more oil etc.

Then if they did change it, they'd start complaining about how their shot was gone now.

I know a house or two near me for which the physical appearance of the lane would not change.

I think I'd like it though.  I think my son would certainly like it for his saturday morning challenge shot league.

I don't want to see the blue dye on my bowling balls. Not that I think it matters performance wise or anything (and I would go along with it for TV), I just don't want to see it aesthetically on my equipment.

I don't want that dye on my equipment or on my clothes. In the proprietors defense,having blue oil would only feed into the league bowling complaining, "no oil" they say, put a little more in the middle, "man, they are flooded tonight". I could NEVER manage or work at bowling center or in the industry period. Id rather work at a male bathhouse, kidding, I think......

My whole issue is that it now (with blue dye) takes zero effort on the bowler's part to learn to read ball reaction.  The right handed bowler is looking for hold area (blue) and miss area (white, or lane surface color) to the outside. 

The PBA players are the best, but with blue dye in the oil they "carve" out an area with 500 grit equipment until they have their desired line to the pocket.  Do they need to read ball reaction?  Not if they have eyes.   I say let them use the "invisible" lane conditioner and prove they are the best at their craft.

To those who argue that it's just another advancement, and why not?  Just wait until you bowl a non THS tournament somewhere when the blue isn't used and see how dependent you became on what your eyes (so obviously) told you. 

Learning to read ball reaction is worth the effort and time invested.  Learning to trust your skill and know how your ball should react once it finds friction is worth it as well.
