Bogus Question???
« on: July 18, 2003, 06:27:43 AM »
CS,

I have yet to read the "question", that is in question.  I see the links, but not instructions as to how to see the alledged question, of the alledged blowhard (did not want ot use yoiu descriptive adjective).  I also would like to say something about your comment on Michelle, she did not single you out, nor does she anyone, I know this because of some of her replies to "some" of my topics.  Yes she is "opinionated", WHO THE HECK DOES NOT HAVE AN OPINION!  Until I see the question, I will not take the comment regarding the ISP taking this to heart.  They deal with much more than this.  If you want to handle this, just block him or delete it after telling him/her to stop.  If the poster persists, THEN you have a serious issue, unless there was a threat involved or severe crudeness/ vulgarity.  If it were me, and Michelle knows this, I would have come out here and debated him, or called him out in puiblic, thus maybe enlisting the "help" of some very capable posters on this site.  Just food for thought, and I still want to know the question that ruffled your feathers so much.

Michelle,

I just figured that after all the discussions we have had, that it would not need to be said.  Besides, I can't use that word, but just because "I" do not use it does not make it any less true; hey, where have I heard that statement, in reference to something not being true, whether it is believed or not???  I was hoping you would at least say that I caid "something" that you could actually support me on!  I will not lock this post unless it gets out of hand, but I am still waiting for the answer.  Thanks for replying Michelle, and "quit singling me out", oh wait a minute, you are just being you.  LOL and all those other abbreviations.

I agree with Dave (on this one at least)

'course there for a while, hamster was convinced that I was following his threads for the sole purpose of ragging on him...so the surf kid wasn't the first and I'm pretty sure he won't be the last that gets taken to task

hmm... Theres seems to be a bit of confusion. I am not going to post the message, but, someone submitted it through the "Ask The Pro's" feature on my site. In the message however, he said he got the site from ballreviews.com and that his user name on the board was "(im not gonna say)". SO i checked out the user list, the name didnt exist. But before you click submit, its clearly stated in bold red letters that any questions submitted through the system that do not deal with bowling will be considered as spam, and the users ISP will be contacted. Obviously he sent it anyways, although it may seem as it bothers me, but it dont bother me at all. But the simple fact is im gonna stick to what i have said under the agreements of use. Am i wrong for following my own guidelines?

CS,

I have a better idea, why don't you make it so that all users have to submit a verifiable e-mail address, before your board will accept ANY question.  As for what is considered SPAM, that is a whole other idea.  I still do not see why you can't post the question; you do not have to post the name or alleged name.  I cannot cry foul without seeing the evidence.  There should be no reason that you can't post the question, if if you have to paraphrase it.  I still do not seeing the ISP going high and to the right on this guy, unless it if crude, rude, and offensively obscene.  Think about letting us know the gist of the question.

Michelle,

I may not have liked, and God knows I did not agree with, everything you said, but I do not believe that you soley tried to rag on me.  I did however, think that sometimes questions were asked just to stir me up; if I misperceived that, I apologize.  I did not really take it PERSONAL, even if I felt sad.  You are at liberty to say what you feel, as we all are, but we have to realize that there are consequences.  It is always good to hear from you on most all threads.  I will still NOT call you that B word, no matter how much you say you have earned it.

Leftside,

Hey I can so lock a post!!

Because you posted a thread on it.  I do not believe that you are releasing anything private, if you give the directions to where it is on your site.  That way we can see for ourselves how it was written, and can make a more clear assessment.  Just tell me how to locate it so I can read it as it is posted.  It can't be private if the questions can be read, and if you paraphrase it, it is not literally devulged, as it is "your own words"!

I still believe you can use "your own words", and get the picture to us without breaking any privacy rules.  You are not divulging any "personal info (i.e. names, addresses, phone #, etc...).

The argument can be advanced that you already have failed to abide by your own stated policy when you broached the original subject on this site.

Further, the content of a non-copyrighted question with no means of identifying an author is not something that comprises violations of commonly accepted privacy practices.

While it is certainly commendable to see minors attempting to venture into the world of web administration, they would be well served to understand the ramifications of their actions and statements.  There is a reason why legal counsel in the specialized fields is costly...

CS,

This is the same attemted lesson on the thread you started, and locked.  I have also maintained this with my threads that strike debates, and that is this, DO NOT tell anyone to "back off", there is a little thing called discipline, that is used to just say NO to replying to a thread.  No body is even making you READ these posts, if you are truly getting tired of them.  It is the same thing that I preached on mine, nobody can make anyone keep reading posts that they do not agree with.  Just do not click on them.  Nobody is trying to jump you, all we want is a clearer picture.  If you wanted us to tell you who it might be, you need to give us more info, than 'I received an inappropriate bogus question.  I learned in the military, that if I want to accuse one of my Marines of disrespect, then I need to describe HOW he/she was disrespectful (i.e. in that they did or said....).
