Bogus Reviews
« on: November 20, 2003, 03:46:49 AM »
Isn't this supposed to be a useful site? (At least the part with the Ball Reviews)? I think it's time that some of these moronic reviews posted by people with too much time on their hands and an overpowering need to puke into the Information Superhighway get deleted. If there isn't a moderator assigned to perform that function, I volunteer.

I suggest the following.  Everytime someone does this, or follows up with a comment in the review section, let's all write them a message telling them they are jerks.
--------------------
"I don't mind if you don't like my manners. I don't like them myself. They're pretty bad. I grieve over them on long winter evenings."
"Some men get the world.  Others get ex-hookers and a trip to Arizona."

I agree with RandyO on the reviews. And I don't think the MessengerTi Lightweights were funny.

I read the first review despite the juvenile username. I don't read anything posted by known idiots, so the rest of the moron's posts go unread. I think these bozo's get off having people respond, so if we're not going to be able to delete these reviews, then the next best thing would be for nobody to post a response.

if i could possibly make a suggestion . . . please do not abuse or berate the "newbies" . . . while i totally agree that some of the ball reviews are "less than satisfactory," i believe that our beloved sport is in no condition to chase away the newer, less savvy bowlers.

let's just quietly "consider the source," and even encourage the less experienced guys . . . give them suggestions on how to improve their reviews, and tips on what people are looking for when they read a review.

peace and love to all . . . badshot

Bad, new folks to the site who don't post good or reasonble reviews are not  really a problem; as you note, we can suggest better.  If, after seeing good reviews and getting gentle ribbing and nudging, they consistently post crap, there is the ignored user function. The real problem is people not using the reviews for reviews.  Charlest said it best (as he often does, darn)-- a review is a ball review, not a comment on a post or someone's review.

Any questions?

I read it.  Perfectly solid, reasonable review.  If everyone gave that information...it'd be nice.

BadShot - I wasn't talking about 'newbie' reviews. Obviously some reviews are going to be more in depth and/or 'useful' than other reviews. That is not a problem at all. The reviews I was referring to are pretty obvious. This kind of stuff has been more of a problem since the budgets were cut back at mental institutions. The loonies are in public now. Some of them piss in the streets, and some of them crap on the information superhighway. What I am asking for is for someone to bring out an electronic HOSE and wash the crap from this site.

i know what you mean, randyo . . . at least there are much fewer "idiot, demented, pond scum" posters than say, the yahoo message boards.

it would be nice if there were a moderator available for this site that could delete BS commentary and abusive users.

When did it become that we could not have dialogue with each other with out threatening or being rude.  Would you speak that way to someone in person.  It is fine I know you will say hell yeah on here, but I know the truth and so do you.  The internet does not give free rein.  Try to still be a human being everyone.

We're dragging drama into Miscellaneous now?  At least it used to be reserved to AG or the now existing Misc-Non Bowling Related.  Card makes a good point, listen.
