Title: boiling??

how exactly do you boil a ball to get the oil off?

No, not boil.  Just use hot water from your tap and some kind of grease cutting detergent like Dawn or Sunshine.  

One way is to use a bucket.  You can tape up the fingerholes of the ball first then put the ball in the bucket, add hot water from the tap covering the ball and Dawn.  Let the ball sit for 10 minutes, wipe the oil off and repeat as needed, keeping the water hot (dont let it get cold).

There are many variations of this method, including using the dishwasher (dont use the heat cycle).

Be very careful about doing this procedure.  I have a Rotogrip ball in the shop that has cracked in thousands of tiny places due to this.  If the water is too hot this will happen.  It will still happen even if you can put your hand in the water.
