disappointed in a good series
« on: August 16, 2009, 01:37:55 PM »
2 years I averaged 221
last year 213 (many injuries)
this summer 221

I have become disappointed in anything below a 700 now although my average is below that.   With the technology increasing my expectations of myself are high.

Anyone else like this?  any thoughts or responses?

Thanks

I feel the same way... and even a 700 doesn't always make me happy. I try and strike on every ball, every frame, so anything less than 900 isn't perfect

When a house bowler misses the mark, misses the break point and strike, for many ppl its called a wallshot. When a pro does that its call adjustment

When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one.

Better start pre-bowling then.

You may be the better bowler, but my car would blow the doors off of yours.

How I determine if I am happy or disappointed with a series in league on a THS has nothing to do with score. There are nights I shot 700-710-720 and I am highly disappointed. Why? Because I sprayed the ball at the arrows or at my breakpoint all night long. I know I scored well only because of it being a THS. And there are nights where I shot 630-640-650 where I am really happy. Why? Because I was consistently hitting my mark and breakpoint and more the likely the lanes were rather tough that night for whatever reason.  I look more at how my scores compare across the league with the other top bowlers and how well I did at hitting my mark and breakpoint. The last part to me is more important then the final score.

That's honestly funny to me.  Do you know how strange it sounds to actually hear someone say they're disappointed with anything less than a 700 series?

I guess that's what I get for getting old.  I remember when a 570 was a good set, 650 was pretty high, and 708 won high series for the entire center for the entire winter season.

I also have an "Award of Merit" for shooting the highest game of the year, a 280.

Usually, if I shoot 650 or above, I feel like I had a good outing.
