Anyone trusting the registered speed on the monitor doesn't know the actual speed of the shot. The in-house systems are generally running a simple mathematical equation that is based upon time it takes to go between two points close to the pindeck.
AMF systems were notorious for reading fast...if they were to be believed, I throw close to 25MPH, which is nowhere close to my speed.
Oh, and as to throwing 10-pin (or any pin) back up the lane, it has nothing to do with speed. Even me and my little 17MPH shot can bring a pin more than halfway up the lane from time to time (actually did it on back to back corner pin leaves in Temple a few years back- an old guy told me he doubted I could do that again if I tried, so I proved him wrong
).
