Title: Bowlers Stories

I'm starting something new on my site by a suggestion of a visitor. We will post bowlers stories(must be interesting of course)to share with visitors of the site. I myself think this is a good idea, and I would like to get a few stories to start things off; so I figured I turn to my BR family to post they're interesting bowling story.

What are you waiting for?? Post it!

Don't know if it's interesting or not.  Kind of ties in with another post about the kids here on the board.  At least its one I remember fondly.

Several years ago I was bowling a double elimination tournament, best two out of three and was completely lost.  Lost the first game bad.  My wife was setting at a table with another wife a a little boy around 5-6 years old.  I told the wife I didn’t have a clue.  This little boy jumped up, said, you’re not doing this, and threw his arm straight up in the air.  We all had a good laugh.  Next two games I made sure I had a good follow thru.  Took 2d instead of last.  Talked his mother into letting me buy him the Scooby ball he wanted.

Flashback to my junior year of high school. For a few weeks during the year we got bussed down to the local bowling center to shoot a few games for gym class. Teacher always had a habit of saying "Pick that up and you get an A for the semester." when someone would leave a 7-10. One day a guy left the 7-10 and got that line. He threw his ball down, hit one pin and had it kick off the back and covered the 7-10 (Only time I've personally seen it done.) Teacher kept to his word and he got an A in gym class that semester.

That was really really interesting! I have only time to read to page 3 but why was larry being banned from the forums?

TheDude -- The thread never has revealed why Larry was temporarily banned.  By the way, I can't take credit for finding this, someone else mentioned it here about a month ago.  --  JohnP

I read that entire thread also. It seems to be an ongoing topic, at least I hope it goes on. I really want to see what was behind Billy's decline. Also, I was interested to find out what they were talking about in regards to AMF, and Phantom's somewhat elusive tone on the subject. Does anyone know when you can catch Phantom's radio show, in Ohio?

kendog -- I go back to the time period this thread covers.  I think we are going to find out that when the proprietors and PBA started blocking lanes, Billy lost the advantage he had because of his extreme accuracy (which is a general trait of any good full roller).  I remember the first time I bowled on a blocked lane, and was amazed that I could miss my target a board and still hit the pocket.  I doubt there are any lanes now that wouldn't have been considered blocked in the late 60's.  The Phantom's radio show is on the web, not the public airways.  Here's a link to it
