Our house got a new lane machine...
« on: November 14, 2008, 12:31:54 AM »
about 3 weeks ago. There's some good news, and some bad...

The good - the standard house shot is gone.
The bad news - the standard house shot is gone.

The good news is that the shot seems to hold up quite well. The bad news is that they don't quite know what they're doing yet, and it's made for some challenging shots. I bowled last night (knee seemed fine, btw), and it was the strongest wet/dry transition I've ever seen. Keep the ball at or inside 10, it dramatically sailed. TOUCH 9.5 - it was left. At least a 3-6-10 - if not worse.

I finally found something - fluffing straight up 12 - and had a decent look.

It was amazing!

Could be worse.  Our house needs a new machine and won't buy one.  The old one they have now keeps breaking down on them.

Last night, they got it running right before league and oiled the lanes 10 minutes prior to the league starting.  Problem was, after working on it all day, it was WAY out of calibration and actually put out a very defined "reverse block" shot.  For those who arent aware, this is oil on the outside and dry in the middle. Very difficult to hit.

Anyway, there are several of us averaging over 220, but last night the high set in the house was 592.  Lots of P.O.'d bowlers.  My team lost all four games because we were giving over 150 pins handicap and couldn't make it up at all.
