Bowlersparadise Drilling Quality
« on: May 23, 2009, 08:49:07 PM »
Just wondering if any BR users have utilized the Drilling services offered by Bowlersparadise.  My driller has closed up shop and I am looking at a couple balls to buy and want them drilled as soon as I can to get some practice in.  If I choose to buy through Bowlersparadise should I have them drilled there or travel approximately 100 miles to a driller I have not used before.  Any help would be great!  (Either way I will be using a new driller and taking my best fit ball  with me to compare span, pitches, pap, etc..)

Thanks All

I have never had anything drilled by bowlersparadise. I usually have Buddiesproshop drill my stuff. They are very good and right now they have a 20 dollar off coupon for drilling services.

I have not had a ball drilled by them.  But my shop has had to fix their drills.  One ball the grips were not glued in. The other the thumb hole was a raw rough round drill hole with chips and extremely sharp edge.  No finish work done on it what so ever.  This young couple lived local to us and BP so none of this was done via shipping.

I don't understand why you would expect an online pro shop to do anything more than put holes in the ball.  Beveling the holes is different for everyone...if they bevel it without ever talking to you they might do too much...then you have a ball you can't hold on to.

Drive to a pro shop and have somoene you can talk to drill it.  There is no way that someone over a website who can't see you bowl can remotely know what reaction you want and how to properly lay it out for you.

As far as hitting the lines anyone can do that....

You don't understand.  BP has a street shop in our area.  These folks walked in, bought bowling balls, were measured, balls drilled and that's what they got.  This was not done online.  They were new bowlers, so maybe you can fault the customer for not knowing that the thumbhole shouldn't cut like a razor when you throw the ball.  Or that you don't have to put those white grippy things in the ball every time you throw it.  Maybe they are suppoed to come out?

I've been using online shops for 10 years (since I moved to NC). In that period I've bought a LOT of balls!I believe that if you send a good fitting ball to the on-line shop you have an EXCELLENT CHANCE of getting that ball duplicated in your new fitting. If the old ball is beveled the new one will also be beveled.

To answer the question .. I have not tried BOWLERSPARADISE for drilling but I would try one ball through them .. worse case get it fixed if it's not a duplicate of what you sent!

Don't mess with BP...contact Mike Austin from these forums, here or on facebook...this guy duplicates a drill like none other.
