Going to a Good Driller at another house
« on: January 21, 2010, 02:18:27 AM »
My question is the following scenario.

I bowl at house X.  Peo shop there has no competent driller.  So I travel across town to have by game analyzed by their very competent driller at house Y.

Problem:  House X & house Y have DRASTICALLY different shots and driller has never bowled at house X and doesn't know how dry that house really is.

How can even the most competent driller properly recommend equipment for a shot he has not seen?

Wow that is a good question.  My driller has never checked my PAP.  I have only had one driller (At Kingpin where Jeff Carter bowls) check my PAP and that ball picked up roll of my hand better than any ball I have ever owned.  The guy that drills my stuff now is guessing, but my averages in 3 leagues is 210-216 so I guess I won't complain..  LOL

In response to your question.  It seems to me that all he can do is listen to your input on the lane condition and the type of ball you throw and or want to throw on this shot and make his best educated guess.  I think most of the time a good driller will get it close.

I went through the same thing when I got my second dimension. My normal alley proshop didn't have my ball so I went to a place about 30 mins away that had totally different lane conditions, and just told the driller that I was a medium rev, tweener bowler bowling on medium to light lanes. And it worked perfectly on my normal bowling alley.

So basically just tell the person who is drilling your ball the conditions of the lane and how you  bowl and they should be able to help you out.
