Does Such A Ball Exist?
« on: January 20, 2010, 04:54:31 PM »
I'm looking for a ball that i can go to when my Mutant Cell is either uncontrollable on the backend or it is burning up and loosing energy on the backend and leaving flat 10's. I need something that will be clean through the heads but quite angular on the backend. I was thinking the Virtual Energy or Reign but would like to hear what everyone else thinks. I like to play inside and swing the ball right (16.5 mph 310 revs) thanks.

Good bet would be a Nomad Pearl. It makes a good strong but predictable move but stays clean through the heads.

Just about any modern-generation reactive pearl will do what you're looking for. The company you pick will largely be irrelevant to the discussion. The new covers at all the companies are so far ahead of where we were even five years ago that it's jaw-dropping. Combine one of those with the proper drilling for your specs and you'll have no problem getting that look.

I'm sure you'll get a lot of specific responses and a lot of "but this ball is different," but really, it doesn't matter that much.

Th Virtual Energy is a strong ball. It is a slight step down from the Mutant, but not a big one. The Reign is more of a step down and will not handle the amount of oil that either the VE or Mutant will. For the money, IMHO you don't NEED both a Mutant and a VE. I have both but don't carry them at the same time. Locke had mentioned the Nomad Pearl, I think that or the Reign would be your best bang for the buck for stepping down from the Mutant.

I've owned all four--VE/Mutant and Nomad Pearl/Reign are a good combination. For me personally, I prefer the Mutant/Reign pairing. Not that the VE is a bad ball, but for a lot of conditions it will overlap your Mutant, albeit with a different shot shape.

Get another Mutant and polish it up.

My step down is from a Mutant Cell to a Hyroad. I love this combo, when encountering what you previously mentioned.

I'd say, go with the Reign... It's very clean in oil, yet will make a left turn on the dry...  Atleast thats what mine does...
