Bowling Center Change
« on: September 23, 2008, 03:42:47 AM »
What would you change about your bowling center?

We need new pin setters and a complete new set of lanes.  Front and back boards for starters

New lanes!  They currently have a very old and beat up wood/guardian surface.

right now... 100% satiesfied..

the new center could use a different floor ... they have a kind of industrial floor that is very porous and dirty even when they clean it.... doh..

The best way to get a good set of games there is to clean your shoes every frame....

We just got completely new Brunswick lane surfaces and approaches in the club house (plus new gastronomy and settee area), but the pinsetters are still 16 years old. And since the revamping, balls tend to catch more scratches and even bigger bites from the machines than before...

My center did exactly what everybody was aksing for.  They just opened a full pro shop that is an independent business form the center.  He is just renting space there.  Since he opened 8/1 I have all ready bought 2 new balls from him that I otherwise would not have done.

New Scoring monitors/sytem or something.  New ball returns.  My ball came back up & as it was about to come out, the whole machine rattled & vibrated then spit my ball out w/a big chunk taken out of it.  I didn't know it happened as I was on my way back to the seats high fiven for all 10 in the pit.  My team mate & an opponent on the lanes after me heard it & saw it & wouldn't bowl until I showed the owner the ball & have him look at the return.  Upon seeing my ball, the owner says to me "What, did you whip the ball down the gutter trying for the 10 pin?".  So I guess, I'd also like a new owner for the center.  The roof leaks every hard rain.  The selection of beer sucks.  The only plus is that it's 5 minutes from my home.

I live in Canada so 5 pin takes up most of the management time. We have old beat up wood/guardian lanes that have been resurfaced so many times I'd bet the next time I come for a league there's a giant hole in the lane from some drunk guy lofting it to the roof. Pinsetter are complete garbage, and the management doesn't know how to fix em. It took us 1 hour to start our first game because the staff couldn't figure out something. My coach went back there and fixed it in what.. 2 minutes? New everything including a new owner and some staffers that aren't 5-pin junkies!

Clean out the ball returns. I've had my bowling balls come back with nasty black smudges on it. Obviously it's just old oil or whatever, but it only comes off with cleaner and I can't use it during league.

Better carry. Threw 31 out of 36 in the pocket friday and left 1 ten pin.LOL
In all seriousness a new lane machine. Our sister house just got one and it's time to retire our old pad machine. Also a new roof, Ike did a number on it.

let me see where to start
well at the top new owners.. current ones are douchbags
new lanes.. wood out dated
new shot.. put a house shot out so i dont have to hear ppl whine about the shot
new location.. the ghetto isnt the place for a bowling alley and the little "ghetto rats" (neighborhood kids) break things and steal things from peoples cars and the cops wont do anything about it
new scoreing system.. just "updated" to the new strike tweleve system and hell its the same as the old.
better pro shop.. guy who runs it is old and cant see.. so no drill there.

a few things i would change.. but the one i would like to change the most would be the owners... but ohh well suppost to be getting a new bowling center in town becuase other people have realized all of the above are problems.

something to add.. new a/c its always 80 degrees in there which is way to hot for bowling.

80 degrees way to hot to bowl???   You must not be from Texas!  The old AMF center we were at one summer it was over 100 degrees in the bowlers area.  I kept a thermometer in the area just to see.  That was the norm during the summer every year for a long time.  Just a little note to think about.  A 24 lane center to replace the scoring with nice equipment(not top of the line by any means) is around $120,000 or 34286 games at $3.50 a line.  Now figure you need to deduct all the other expenses before you start paying on the scoring and that number jumps dramatically.  Eventually the bowlers will need to pay for the improvements.
