Round One just opened here in August. It has the whole bottom floor of a (formerly) Dillard's department store as arcade and redemption. The upstairs has 10 whole lanes of bowling, karaoke, ping ping, and a small bar area.
A friend told me that Saturday night 6 of the 10 lanes were down, with no one to fix them. They are on the expensive side, compared to most centers in the area. There are no leagues, just open play.
This is a large company who was building about 50 of these across the country at the same time. Frankly, these are not bowling centers for those who bowl leagues or anything organized.
Having said that, there are lots of people playing lots of arcade games, and I'm sure their income looks great at this stage. Some bowlers came to our place Saturday night (from there) because the line for beer was 30 people deep with one server. The wait for lanes is bad when 10 lanes are working, with 6 of them down it would have been stupid...
