I just finished up a summer league, that ended very bad. The last week off position round the 1st place team needed 1 point to clinch, they did. So instead of bowling the last two games, they threw off so there buddies could win second. We came in 3rd behind by 2 points. I wrote a letter to the league, we did have a meeting, but to no avail, they still won. Does anyone have any standards or morals anymore. Needless to say we will not bowl in that league next year. Disappointed and angry!

The same thing happened to me and my team in a summer league some years back. Poor sportsmanship and unethical for sure.

We had a situation come up like that (3 bowler out of 5 shot 200+ pins under average for the night). An USBC told us we could vacate the scores an the were to forfeit any games won. Contact USBC rules dept.

Yeah that sucks I have seen b.s. happen like that in the past. Anyways, Always remember if youre not first you are last!
I wouldnt quit, I would make it my personal mission to shoot 800's against those punks! Amd beat em next year!

they crushed the league. they earned the right to do whatever they wanted to

Winning a league does not give anyone the right to disregard USBC rules that were put in place to protect integrity in the game (what little is left). Unfortunately ethics is not something that can be legislated, via league rules or otherwise. What may feel wrong to one guy may feel fine to the next. We are all so different.
Flagrant abuses, however, should be documented, with accompanying witness statements, etc. to the local USBC office for their use. Our association has banned membership for some individuals, who cannot even apply again until January 2014. Whether or not their application for membership is accepted at that time is going to be interesting.
Before you say big deal! These guys have been banned from any sanctioned league or tournament during their penalty period, however long that may be. If more of this crap gets punished, then maybe the rank and file members will think twice before getting involved. Honest effort on every shot will keep everyone happy.

I honestly couldn't look at myself in the mirror if that was me. Disgusting.

they earned the right to do whatever they wanted to
I saw "they have the RIGHT...." guy coming a mile away.
That argument is, and I'm going to choose this word intentionally: RETARDED
I suppose some think that if something is a right, then by exercising that right, that it is ALWAYS ok and the justified thing to do if one chooses to.....in other words: my right therefore always ethical. It is also an utter and complete lack of integrity that speaks volumes about the content of the persons CHARACTER....
Line up all the people who WOULD throw off in this situation and you'll likely find noticeable trends about these people and who they are as people and competitors.
Basically, if you throw off like that, you're a loser (ironically figuratively speaking) and pretty much everyone thinks that way except the losers that do it.

Hard to disagree; you give your best effort at whatever you do in life or you should not be out there.
